Pretium Resources Inc. Oct. 11 reported that its Brucejack Mine in northwestern British Columbia produced 82,203 ounces of gold during the third quarter. At the onset of the quarter, the feed for the newly commissioned mill was predominately from low-grade stockpiles and development muck, resulting in 16,882 oz of gold produced during July. As the ramp-up progressed, the mill began processing stope ore exclusively, resulting in 65,321 oz of gold produced in the last two...
Grande Portage Resources Ltd. Oct. 5 announced the completion of a 3,700-meter drill program at its Herbert Gold property about 16 miles north of Juneau, Alaska. So far, the company has outlined 821,000 metric tons of indicated resources averaging 6.91 g/t (182,400 oz) gold; and 51,600 metric tons of inferred resources averaging 7.73 g/t (12,800 oz) gold. This year's 12-hole program aims to add to this high-grade gold resource by testing extensions of three major veins and their satellite structures. Grande Portage said core...
Superior Court Judge Mark Rindner Oct. 10 ruled the controversial Stand for Salmon ballot initiative to be constitutional, overturning a contrary decision by Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott less than a month earlier. The proposed ballot measure would prioritize the habitat of anadromous fish - for Alaska this is primarily salmon but includes at least 36 fish species that traverse between fresh and salt waters - over other uses. Mallott said this would be an appropriation of resources...
StrikePoint Gold Inc. Oct. 10 reported high-grade silver and gold results from a short mapping and sampling program carried out at its Golden-Oly property in eastern Yukon. The 12-day program focused on Colossus, one of seven geophysical and geochemical targets previously identified on the property. Two vein types were observed at Colossus - quartz-arsenopyrite veins within granodiorite and polymetallic veins around the periphery and into the surrounding country rock. Grab samples from the quartz veins returned up to 10.65...
Fireweed Zinc Ltd. Oct. 10 reported high-grade zinc results from the first four holes drilled at Jason, one of two deposits the company is testing with confirmation drilling during its 2017 program at the Macmillan Pass project in eastern Yukon. JS17-01, the first hole drilled at Jason this year, cut 7 meters of 12.16 percent zinc and 3.13 percent lead from a depth of 172.3 meters. Other highlighted intercepts include 10.5 meters of 7.82 percent copper and 1.39 percent lead from a depth of 155.2 meters in hole JS17-02; and...
Zonte Metals Inc. Oct. 6 said a late summer exploration program indicates the potential for widespread gold mineralization at McConnells Jest, an exploration project immediately west of Victoria Gold's Dublin Gulch property in the Yukon. This program included five holes testing three targets - Hill, Two Four and Pink Mountain. Hole MJ-04, drilled at the Two Four Target, cut 20.5 meters of 0.72 grams per metric ton gold from a depth of 61.4 meters and 20.3 meters of 0.69 g/t gold from 122.2 meters. Drilling at Pink Mountain...
Victoria Gold Corp. Oct. 10 reported results from four holes testing areas adjacent to and below the open-pit reserves at its Eagle Gold Mine project on the Dublin Gulch property in the Yukon. Drilled outside the pit outlined in a 2016 feasibility study for Eagle Gold, hole DG17-910C cut 423 meters averaging 0.59 grams per metric ton gold from a depth of 221 meters, including 25.5 meters of 1.97 g/t from 612.5 meters. Victoria said the four Eagle Deep holes, each drilled to about 600 meters, demonstrate the upside potential...
ATAC Resources Ltd. Oct. 10 reported results of an additional ten holes drilled at its Osiris project at the eastern end of the Rackla Gold property in the Yukon. A step-out hole at the Sunrise zone at Osiris cut 10.42 meters of 7.97 grams per metric ton gold from a depth of 329.2 meters and 15.24 meters of 13.52 g/t gold from 344.4 meters. This represents the highest grade gold intercept so far at Sunrise and extends the zone to depth. One hole drilled at the Conrad zone,...
Capstone Mining Corp. Oct. 11 reported that its Minto Mine in the Yukon produced 3,400 metric tons of copper during the third quarter, a 23 percent drop from the 4,400 metric tons produced there during the second quarter, and a 38 percent decline from the 5,500 metric tons produced in the first quarter. The company attributes this drop in copper production to mine sequencing changes to support extensions to the life of the mine. Underground mining was halted for six weeks in order to upgrade the emergency response capacity...
