Diavik on pace to recover 7M carats in 2015

Dominion Diamond Corp. Oct. 15 reported that its Diavik Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories produced 1.27 million carats of diamonds from 480,000 metric tons of ore during the third quarter of 2015.

Diamonds recovered during the third quarter were 24 percent lower than output during the same period of 2014, reflecting a 15 percent drop in the amount of material processed and lower recovered grades from the A-154 South and A-418 kimberlite pipes.

This was partially offset by increased production from coarse ore rejects.

Dominion Diamond's full year 2015 production target for Diavik is 7 million carats of diamonds, with 6.8 million being recovered from mined ore reserves and 200,000 carats recovered from coarse ore rejects.

The mine has produced 4.91 million carats of diamonds through the first three quarters.
