Goldstrike Resources Ltd. July 5 announced that a 10,000 line-kilometer airborne magnetic survey and a district-scale geochemical program have been completed at Plateau and drilling is now underway at the gold property.
This marks the first exploration program since Newmont Mining Corp. joined Goldstrike in exploring the Yukon property.
This year's geophysical and geochemical programs utilized Newmont's exploration team, equipment and proprietary techniques.
With this program complete, the major gold miner has launched the largest drill campaign to date at Plateau.
The Goldstack and Bonanza zones are the first targets of the drilling and further targets are planned to be added as results from the geophysical and geochemical surveys are received and interpreted.

Drilling at Goldstack is designed to expand known mineralization with pierce points at 25-meter spacing along strike and below previously drilled intervals.
Hole PSGS-16-01, drilled at Goldstack in 2016, cut 45.5 meters averaging 6.05 grams per metric ton gold.
Previous drilling at Goldstack has traced a large tabular body of mineralization that is more than130 meters long, 40 meters wide and 10 to 17.5 meters thick. This body remains open along strike and at depth.
The newly discovered Bonanza Zone will be drilled for the first time. Surface mapping and sampling has outlined a 20-meter-wide zone of gold-bearing quartz veins that remains open.
Channel samples collected from Bonanza last year returned 15.06 g/t gold over 1.13 meters, 14.4 g/t gold over 0.9 meters, 6.9 g/t gold over 1.3 meters and 2.22 g/t gold over 2.75 meters.
These results are similar to initial channel samples taken at the Goldstack discovery outcrop in 2012.
Located 4,000 meters northwest of Goldstack, Bonanza consists of a swarm of parallel veins with mineralization similar to that seen in the high grade drill intersections at Goldstack.
Bonanza will be tested along strike and down dip with a series of 25-meter spaced drill holes.
Goldstrike said program planning allows for additional drilling to expand on positive results at Bonanza and Goldstack, as well as test newly discovered mineralized zones at Plateau.
