Goldstrike Resources Ltd. Jan. 17 reported that the final hole of its 2017 drill campaign at the Lucky Strike property in Yukon's White Gold District cut 7.73 meters averaging 3.04 grams per metric ton gold.
Early staged exploration has identified five large gold-in-soil anomalies – Monte Carlo, Belmont, Samson, Boss and Maverick – along a 10-kilometer- (6 miles) corridor running across the property.
Monte Carlo, discovered in 2016, was the primary focus of the 2017 program at Lucky Strike. One trench dug at this 1,400- by 350-meter geochemical anomaly cut 154 meters averaging 0.42 g/t gold. Goldstrike said this is comparable to trenches dug at Goldcorp's Coffee gold project, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) to the southeast, and White Gold Corp.'s Golden Saddle deposit, roughly 15 kilometers (9 miles) to the west.
This year's program included 1,032 meters of diamond drilling in nine shallow exploratory holes at Monte Carlo. The company said all these holes cut gold mineralization.
The latest hole, DDLS-17-08, was drilled 40 meters west of discovery DDLS-17-09, a hole drilled last year that cut 22 meters of 5.36 g/t gold.
Based on the success of the inaugural drilling completed in 2017, Goldstrike is planning the largest exploration program in the history of t Lucky Strike.
The team is currently compiling the large volume of data acquired in 2017 in preparation for phase two exploration and drilling.
"The results to date demonstrate that the project is one of the most important new gold discoveries in the White Gold Camp in 2017 and has all the makings for a flagship standalone project," said Goldstrike President and CEO Terry King. "With the largest drill and exploration campaign to date being laid out for Lucky Strike, the 2018 season promises to be an exciting time for this project."
