Avidian Gold Corp. Oct. 1 reported that this year's drilling has tapped strong gold mineralization that confirm the expansion potential of the Breccia Pipe deposit on the company's Golden Zone property about 200 miles (320 kilometers) north of Anchorage, Alaska.
The Breccia Pipe deposit hosts 4.19 metric tons of indicated resource averaging 1.99 grams per metric ton (267,400 ounces) gold and 10.38 g/t (1.4 million oz) silver; plus 1.35 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 0.83 g/t (35,900 oz) gold.
Hole GZ18-04, drilled down the plunge of the deposit, cut 107.31 meters grading 4.76 g/t gold. Predominantly sulfide breccia – rock composed of broken fragments of minerals or rock cemented together by a fine-grained matrix –this intercept provides in-fill information to the overall Breccia Pipe deposit in which the sulfide breccia averages 3.17 g/t gold.
Importantly, this hole also cut 21.59 meters of 1.66 g/t gold within the host porphyry surrounding the main breccia-hosted gold resources. This confirms there is gold mineralization within the surrounding host rocks that has potential to add to known gold resources within the conceptual open pit. Avidian said additional drilling will be required to determine the extent of this added gold potential.
Mineralization was also encountered below the presently defined deposit.
Avidian also drilled three holes within Mayflower Extension, a potential resource expansion zone immediately northeast of the proposed Breccia Pipe open pit. This drilling was designed to follow up on the discovery of a previously unknown mineralized unit intersected late in GZ17-10, a 2017 hole that cut 21.6 meters of 1.46 g/t gold about 300 meters northeast of Breccia Pipe.
Hole GZ18-02, drilled 50 meters southwest of GZ17-10, cut 17.7 meters grading 2.12 g/t gold which represents the continuity of the mineralization from hole GZ17-10. The bottom three meters of this hole returned 2.6 g/t gold, indicating that this mineralization remains open at depth.
Hole GZ18-01, drilled underneath hole GZ17-10, returned several narrow intersections throughout the hole. Avidian says this suggests that the mineralization in GZ17-10 may be pinching and swelling.
The Mayflower Extension Zone remains open for 300 meters to the southwest towards GZ17-05, a 2017 hole that cut 10.5 meters grading 1.54 g/t gold, and remains untested to the northeast
"We are pleased with the initial results obtained from the Mayflower Extension zone drilling as it suggests excellent potential for defining peripheral mineralization which could be added to the resource at the Breccia Pipe deposit," said Avidian Gold President and CEO Nick Tintor.
Avidian also drilled three holes in the Copper King area with a fourth hole in progress.
Historical trenching of a skarn found at Copper King retuned 13.72 meters of 7.01 g/t gold, 94.1 g/t silver and 4 percent copper. A historical drill hole drilled through the skarn returned 7.62 meters of 4.94 g/t gold, 76.7 g/t silver and 3.52 percent copper.
Grab samples collected by Avidian at Copper King have returned assays with up to 6.9 g/t gold, 192 g/t silver, 9.5 percent copper, 7.2 percent zinc and 0.7 percent lead.
Two holes were also drilled this year at Long Creek, an occurrence about 1,000 meters south of Copper King.
High-grade mineralization at Long Creek is exposed along a river cut that runs perpendicular to the strike of the geology. Trenching here encountered 6.1 meters of 13.8 g/t gold, 34.4 g/t silver and 0.85 percent copper.
Results from Copper King and Long Creek are pending.
