StrikePoint Gold Inc. June 13 announced the formation of a technical advisory committee to assist and provide technical guidance to the management team regarding all aspects of exploration and development of StrikePoint properties.
StrikePoint's portfolio includes two gold and silver exploration properties in British Columbia's Golden Triangle – Porter and Willoughby – three in the Yukon – Pluto, Mahtin and Golden Oly – and several other earlier staged properties.
Rob McLeod and Ryan Weymark, the two founding members of StrikePoint's technical advisory committee, will provide a wealth of exploration and project development experience as the company advances its Golden Triangle properties.
"As StrikePoint executes a strategy of building high grade gold and silver resources in the Stewart township, in the southern portion of B.C.'s Golden Triangle, this strong advisory team will add more depth to our management team as StrikePoint developments our advanced stage exploration assets," said StrikePoint Gold CEO Shawn Khunkhun.
McLeod, a geoscientist with over twenty-five years' experience in mining and mineral exploration, is the founder and former CEO of IDM Mining Ltd., which recently combined with Ascot Resources Ltd.
Prior to the combination, IDM Mining had advanced the Red Mountain gold-silver underground mine project, situated about 10 kilometers (six miles) northeast of Porter and just west of Willoughby, through feasibility and permitting.
A third-generation miner, born and raised in Stewart B.C., McLeod provides a deep understanding of the people and geology of the Golden Triangle, particularly at Red Mountain, which hosts similar geology to both Willoughby and Porter.
Before IDM Mining, McLeod founded Underworld Resources, a Yukon gold exploration company that advanced exploration on the White Gold project in the Yukon until Kinross Gold Corp. acquired Underworld for C$140 million.
He was also CEO of Full Metal Minerals Ltd., an Alaska-focused exploration company with numerous discoveries to his credit.
McLeod's exploration strategy is a multi-tiered approach, including conceptual geologic ideas with prospecting; early-stage project advancement focusing on discovery; and advancing mid-stage projects towards feasibility.
Weymark, an engineer with experience in mining, heavy civil and infrastructure projects, was the vice president of project development for IDM Mining.
Prior to IDM, Weymark was a project manager in Ledcor Contractors Ltd.'s heavy civil and mining division. Ryan has also worked in various project and operational roles for Teck Resources Ltd. and worked feasibility and pre-feasibility studies in SNC-Lavalin Inc.'s mining and metallurgy division.
He is currently the principal of Weymark Consulting, which provides project management services to the resource sector, including Teck Alaska and Imperial Metals.
"We are very fortunate to be in a position to leverage the knowledge and recent discovery and development success this team has experienced at Red Mountain which neighbors StrikePoint's Willoughby and Porter properties," Khunkhun said.
