White Gold Corp. Nov. 26 announced high-grade gold intercepts from discovery drilling of the Titan target at the company's Hen property in Yukon's White Gold District.
Situated less than 15 kilometers west of the Vertigo discovery on the JP property and 25 kilometers north of the Golden Saddle and Arc deposits on the White Gold property, Titan is a new discovery identified with soil sampling by White Gold. One sample from Titan returned 113 grams per metric ton gold, the highest-grade of more than 400,000 soil samples the company has collected so far.
Rock samples collected from the area have returned some equally impressive number, including samples that contained 605 g/t (19.5 ounces per ton), 497 g/t (16 oz/t), 113 g/t (3.6 oz/t) and 78.3 g/t (2.5 oz/t) gold.
Now rotary air blast (RAB) drilling has tapped a bedrock source for the strong gold mineralization found on the surface of Titan.
The second hole drilled at Titan, HENTTN19RAB-02, cut 6.09 meters averaging 72.81 g/t gold from a depth of 10.67 meters, including 3.05 meters averaging 136.36 g/t gold.
This very high-grade intercept was within a 32-meter-thick zone averaging 14.82 g/t gold, making the Titan discovery one of the strongest holes ever drilled in the White Gold District.
"We are very excited about the drill results confirming the discovery of high-grade, near-surface gold mineralization," said White Gold Chief Technical Officer Shawn Ryan. "These results represent the first pass drilling on the new Titan discovery and are another successful demonstration of our methodical data-based exploration strategy, including our step-by-step approach of a regional soil program, ground geophysical surveys, GT probing, trenching, geological mapping and other activities. The process led us to directly target this unique magnetite rich mineralization, and again demonstrate that the White Gold District is very prospective ground for various styles of gold mineralization."
Based on currently available data, the gold mineralization discovered at Titan is interpreted to occur along discrete high-grade, shallowly north-plunging shoots along a northwest striking contact between an upper mafic to ultramafic unit and lower metasedimentary units.
The one exceptionally high-grade shoot drilled so far is open along strike and to depth. White Gold said the mineralization tapped in HENTTN19RAB-02 has a strong association with magnetite and is associated with a northly trending, magnetic high in geophysical surveys over the target. Multiple additional northly trending magnetic highs are noted across the Titan and may represent additional, untested, trends of mineralization.
"Follow up activity on the property will be very interesting as we have already identified multiple additional targets within 400 meters of the Titan discovery," said Ryan.
