Two years of construction, production and COVID without LTI North of 60 Mining News – July 31, 2020
Victoria Gold Corp. July 27 announced that crews at its Eagle Gold Mine in the Yukon have worked two years without a lost time incident.
While a commendable achievement on its own, this safety milestone is particularly exceptional when you consider that this two-year span encompasses mine construction, transition to commercial mining operations, and the complexities arising from COVID-19 travel restrictions and protocols.
"Even with recent major announcements including construction completion, first gold pour, exploration success and commercial production, this announcement brings me great joy as it is testament to the safety focus and culture at the Eagle Gold Mine," said Victoria Gold CEO John McConnell.
As of July 23, when the two-year milestone was achieved, workers at Eagle Gold had logged 2.48 million hours without a lost time incident.
"I would like to both congratulate and thank each one of our dedicated team members and partners for their contributions in making this milestone a reality," McConnell said.
