64North partners test Echo gold prospect

New drill target northwest of Northern Star's Goodpaster North of 60 Mining News – August 21, 2020

Millrock Resources Inc. and Resolution Minerals Ltd. Aug. 17 reported that drilling is now underway at the Echo target on the 64North gold project in Alaska's Goodpaster Mining District.

The roughly 160,000-acre 64North gold project includes nine claim blocks – West Pogo, Shaw, Eagle, LMS-X, South Pogo, East Pogo, North Pogo, Last Chance and Divide.

Under a deal cut with Millrock Resources Inc. last year, Resolution has the option to earn a 60% interest in this large gold project by investing US$20 million on exploration over four years.

This year, Resolution and Pogo are focused on drilling West Pogo, a block that is immediately west and north of Northern Star Resources Ltd.'s Pogo gold mine property.

The partners began drilling at Aurora in March, but COVID-19 disrupted this early season program part way through the second hole.

Drilling resumed at the road accessible Aurora target in June and two more holes have been completed at this prospect that appears to be a western extension of the more than 4 million oz of gold that has been mined and 6.7 million oz in resources at Pogo.

The partners are anticipating results from the third and fourth holes drilled at Aurora around the end of August.

In the meantime, a heli-portable drill has been flown to Echo, a never before drilled gold target about 5,000 meters northwest of the Goodpaster discovery being explored by Northern Star.

Extending for 2,300 meters along strike, Goodpaster hosts a series of flat lying and steep vein structures that are very similar to the high-grade gold veins currently being mined at Pogo.

Last week, Northern Star announced plans for roughly US$15 million of exploration at Pogo, most of which has been allocated for Goodpaster, which lies between the underground workings at Pogo and the Echo target.

Millrock and Resolution are looking for what appears to be a continuation of similar high-grade gold at Echo, Aurora, and other targets on the West Pogo claim blocks.

After completing a first hole at Echo, Millrock and Resolution will move the drill to Reflection, a target about halfway between Echo and Aurora. One hole at this location is designed to pierce a conductive zone located just above the interpreted location of the same magnetic intrusive rock that hosts the Goodpaster deposit, along a west-northwest trending fault which passes very close to both the Goodpaster deposit and the Pogo Mine.
