Alianza drilling Keno Hill silver project

To drill six holes targeting high-grade silver zones at Haldane North of 60 Mining News – October 9, 2020

Alianza Minerals Ltd. announced plans for a late-season drill program at its Haldane high-grade silver project in Yukon's historic Keno Hill Mining District.

Situated about 25 kilometers (16 miles) west of Keno City, Haldane is the site of a historical mine that produced roughly 24.7 metric tons of hand-sorted ore averaging 3,102 g/t (99.7 oz/t) silver and 59% lead on the south side of Bighorn Creek veins. From 1926 and 1927, a vein on the north side of Bighorn Creek produced 2.1 metric tons of hand-sorted ore averaging 4,602 g/t (148 oz/t) silver and 57.9% lead.

Over the past two years, Alianza has explored extensions of the historical high-grade silver production, as well as newly defined targets across the 8,579-hectare (21,200 acres) the property.

One of the areas explored was Middlecoff zone, another historically mined site that produced 24.7 metric tons of ore averaging 3,101 g/t silver and 59% lead in 1919 and 1920.

One hole drilled by Alianza last year cut one meter averaging 455 g/t silver within a 10.7-meter-thick zone averaging 125.6 g/t silver at Middlecoff.

"Our 2019 campaign at Haldane was very successful, identifying a new silver-bearing vein system at the Bighorn zone, as well as extending historic high-grade silver mineralization at the Middlecoff zone," said Alianza Minerals President and CEO Jason Weber.

The company plans to complete roughly 2,500 meters of drilling in 10 holes during two phases of drilling at Haldane – six holes this fall and four more in the spring.

The phase-one program, slated to be completed in November, will focus on the Middlecoff and West Fault targets.

Both of these zones are centrally located in the Mount Haldane Vein System, which hosts high-grade silver mineralization where the original high-grade silver discoveries were made and mined more than a century ago.

"While Bighorn remains an important target, we will focus on building on the success at Middlecoff and the West Fault target, which had one historic hole that intercepted 320 g/t silver and 1.12 g/t gold over 2.2 meters," said Weber.

Drilling at the Middlecoff Zone will target the high-grade shoot of silver mineralization encountered by Alianza last year.

Drilling at West Fault, which is about 1,000 meters north of Middlecoff, will follow up on a 2011 hole that cut 2.2 meters averaging 320 g/t silver and 1.1 g/t gold.

Alianza plans to follow-up with the phase-two program next spring.

New target areas such as the Bighorn Zone discovery, where the first and only drill hole cut 2.35 meters averaging 125 g/t silver and 4.39% lead, are expected to be tested during the spring program.
