64North winter drilling targets Aurora

Tests for higher grade gold in West Pogo vein tapped earlier North of 60 Mining News – November 6, 2020

Resolution Minerals Ltd. Nov. 1 reported that drilling has resumed at the Aurora gold target on the 64North project in Alaska.

Located in the Goodpaster Mining District, the 160,000-acre 64North project includes nine claim blocks – West Pogo, Shaw, Eagle, LMS-X, South Pogo, East Pogo, North Pogo, Last Chance and Divide.

Resolution, which has the option to earn a 60% interest in this large gold project from Millrock Resources Inc. by investing US$20 million in exploration spending over four years, has primarily targeted the Aurora target on the West Pogo property during its first year of this earn-in.

In September, Resolution and Millrock Resources Inc. reported that hole 20AU07 cut a seven-meter-thick zone of shallow-dipping quartz veining within a 22-meter zone of intense sulfides and alteration in the central portion of the Aurora target.

While this altered zone returned weakly anomalous gold values, Millrock Resources President and CEO Gregory Beischer said "it is not unusual for gold concentration to change dramatically within a few tens of meters in vein-hosted systems such as these."

In order to test for more gold-rich sections of the vein encountered in hole 7, the partners plan to complete around 1,100 meters of drilling in two holes from the same drill pad.

"Further drilling from hole No. 7 drill pad and nearby will test the along-strike and up-dip continuity, in addition to the grade variation of the promising seven-meter thick Pogo-style quartz vein recently intersected at hole 20AU07, at the Central zone of the Aurora prospect," said Resolution Minerals Managing Director Duncan Chessell.

These holes will also test for stacked veins similar to those being mined by Northern Star Resources Ltd. at the Pogo operation only about five miles east of Aurora.

Resolution said only about one in three holes during early exploration drilling on the main Liese vein at Pogo intersected high-grade gold mineralization and believes further discovery staged drilling in the Central zone of Aurora is highly warranted.

"We look forward to the results of these high priority holes with great anticipation and to completing our preliminary evaluation of the West Pogo block in the first season of the 64North project," Chessell said.
