Emerging gold target set to be major focus of 2021 drilling North of 60 Mining News – November 20, 2020
Victoria Gold Corp. Nov. 16 reported long intersection of strong gold mineralization in the final 13 holes drilled at the Raven target on the company's 555-square-kilometer (214 square miles) Dublin Gulch property in the Yukon.
Discovered in 2018, Raven is a near surface gold target about 13 kilometers (eight miles) east of Victoria's Eagle Gold mine.
The 2020 drill program at Raven extended high-grade gold mineralization there to 750 meters along strike, which is triple the length going into the 2020 season.
Highlights from the final 13 holes drilled at Raven include.
• 19 meters averaging 3.95 g/t gold from a depth of 90.4 meters in hole NG20-037C.
• 10.5 meters averaging 2.13 g/t gold from 183.1 meters in NG20-038C.
• 13.7 meters averaging 4.48 g/t gold from 132.7 meters in NG20-045C.
These higher grade intercepts are encompassed in wider sections of bulk tonnage mineralization such as 174.2 meters of 0.76 g/t gold from 35.7 meters in NG20-037C; 126 meters of 0.68 g/t gold from 141 meters in NG20-038C; and 107.2 meters of 0.92 g/t gold from 113.5 meters in NG20-045C.
Some of the other holes at Raven cut shorter sections of high-grade gold such as 0.9 meters of 19.4 g/t gold in NG20-043C; one meter of 25.1 g/t gold in NG20-047C; and 1.3 meters of 15.2 g/t gold in NG20-048C.
"Raven continues to deliver high-grade, near-surface gold intervals," said Victoria Gold President and CEO John McConnell. "Anomalous gold mineralization was intercepted in each of these Raven drillholes, underpinning the fact mineralization remains open to the north, south, east, west and to depth. Raven will be a major focus for next season's exploration work."
Victoria says the expanding zone of mineralization at Raven is indicative of the prospectivity of a trend of mineralization that extends roughly 35 kilometers (22 miles) across the Dublin Gulch property.
"Raven is one of several targets identified through application of the Potato Hills trend mineralization model. Results from this geological model highlight the extensive mineral potential of the Dublin Gulch gold camp," said McConnell.
The 2020 exploration program at Dublin Gulch included 8,040 meters of drilling in 35 diamond holes; more than 3,000 meters of trenching; and the collection of 3,700 soil samples.
