Gold tapped in sparsely drilled areas of Northern BC deposit North of 60 Mining News – December 4, 2020
Cassiar Gold Corp. Dec. 1 reported wide section of gold mineralization in sparsely drilled areas of the Taurus deposit at the company's Cassiar gold project in Northern British Columbia.
The 60,000-hectare (148,260 acres) Cassiar property hosts both lower grade bulk tonnage and high-grade vein occurrences across a 15-kilometer (nine miles) structural corridor.
Taurus, the most advanced bulk tonnage target at Cassiar, hosts 21.8 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 1.43 grams per metric ton (1 million ounces) gold, using a cut-off grade of 0.7 g/t gold.
A 24-hole drill program completed by Cassiar this year primarily focused on confirming and expanding this resource.
In November, the company reported results from the first seven holes of this program. Highlights from this initial batch of 2020 drill results include two holes that encountered 23.8 meters averaging 1.79 grams per metric ton gold and 4.8 meters averaging 3.9 g/t gold in an undrilled, near-surface gap in the Taurus resource. Another infill hole cut 14.9 meters averaging 2.27 g/t gold, which is helping to validate the historical drilling at Taurus.
The latest batch of results include two holes that tapped strong gold mineralization in the hanging wall of the Taurus West fault, where some of the most continuous and widest assay intervals occur within the deposit.
One such hole, 20TA-110, cut 25.1 meters averaging 2.37 g/t gold, including two occurrences of visible gold in quartz veins. Another hole, 20TA-119, cut 32.8 meters averaging 1.78 g/t gold in the hanging wall of the Taurus West fault.
"We are extremely pleased with our second set of assay results from our drill program at the Taurus deposit," said Cassiar Gold CEO Marco Rouqe. "All drill holes came in mineralized and it is very exciting to hit visible gold. We also have some really impressive intervals with grades above our resource grade in sparsely drilled parts of our resource."
In addition to the drilling at Taurus, the company drilled two exploration holes at Wings Canyon, a bulk tonnage prospect about 600 meters southwest of Taurus. Both holes encountered gold mineralization. Highlights include 0.5 meters averaging 19.5 g/t gold in 20TA-105 and 16.8 meters averaging 0.64 g/t gold in 20TA-106.
"Broad gold-mineralized intervals coincident with geophysical features and similar in style to the nearby Taurus deposit confirm the potential for additional bulk-tonnage prospects beyond the current resource," said Cassiar Gold Vice President of Exploration Kaesy Gladwin, referring to the Wings Canyon results.
Results from 10 additional holes drilled at Cassiar this year are pending.
