Matchmaking algorithm personalizes online experience with suggested sessions, exhibitors, and like-minded attendees North of 60 Mining News – February 26, 2021
For most of the roughly 23,000 members of the global mining community that attended the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2020 convention, this enormous annual convention in Toronto marked the final gathering before COVID-19 protocols and restrictions relegated such social events to the virtual space.
With the pandemic continuing to prevent the mining community from coming together in Toronto this year, PDAC has gone to great lengths to ensure its 2021 mining convention continues an 89-year tradition of connecting global participants to the international mining and exploration community and keep them informed of the latest industry news and trends through extensive programming.
"The PDAC Convention is the world's premier mineral exploration and mining industry convention. We are excited to provide the high-quality programming attendees have come to expect by offering a fully virtual experience to participants for the first time," said PDAC President Felix Lee. "We are encouraged by the prospect of reaching an even greater number of international attendees who may not be able to attend our event in person."
While many longtime attendees will miss reminiscing about past mining exploits over cocktails, shaking hands to seal preliminary deals reached, or showing off the wares they have to offer the mining and mineral exploration sector, PDAC 2021 organizers have put together a four-day virtual event that provides participants a new and easier way to socialize, take in presentations by world-renowned experts, visit vendors, and connect with potential new business partners.
"In 2021, you will connect and network in new and innovative ways as you engage with an outstanding lineup of speakers, programs, short courses, core displays and investment opportunities, along with learning about the latest trends and technologies that are shaping the industry," Lee penned in the PDAC 2021 program.
PDAC 2021 attendees will have access to more than 100 hours of high-caliber content across a wide spectrum of topics from experts on commodities, post-COVID-19 minerals outlook, as well as advances in mining and mineral exploration technologies. The line-up will include programs covering capital markets, indigenous partnerships, sustainable mining and exploration, and updates from mining jurisdictions around the globe.
As always, the world's largest annual mining convention offers short courses, prospectors tent, core shack, and a trade show that features companies from around the world.
As the largest marketplace of its kind, PDAC 2021's online exhibit hall will feature customized booths with downloadable content, company brochures, investor materials, videos and much more. Attendees will be able to book meetings with exhibitor representatives via video or text chat.
In fact, Virtual PDAC 2021 offers a unique and high-tech opportunity for personalized access to targeted contacts, while helping to strengthen ties with new and existing partners.
After answering a series of questions, a sophisticated matchmaking algorithm will suggest a list of other like-minded PDAC attendees, sessions that align with your interests, and exhibitors matching your selected criteria.
With thousands of attendees, more than 100 sessions, and more than 700 exhibitors from around the globe, this powerful tool will allow PDAC registrants to meet the people, watch the presentations, and visit the vendors that best align with their areas of interests.
In addition, every attendee will be able to browse the PDAC 2021 directory by name, company, country, and other criteria. This provides the opportunity to further broaden the search for global mining business contacts.
Utilizing these online advantages, you will be able to make connections from anywhere on the platform in real time though text or video chats.
Though participants will be attending the mining convention from socially distanced homes and offices around the globe, PDAC 2021 organizers have put together a slate of musical acts, exclusive tours, interactive events, and other engaging entertainment to offer socializing opportunities to help bring the global mining community closer together.
Thanks to the unlimited seating offered by online participation, all participants have the opportunity to attend the PDAC 2021 Awards Gala, an annual gathering to celebrate individuals who have distinguished themselves with excellence in the mining and mineral exploration sectors.
While the global mining community may not be able to gather in Toronto to reflect on all things mining during 2020 and make the connections and gather the information needed for 2021, PDAC has embraced the power of technology to deliver an enhanced online experience to offices, basements, dining room tables, and living rooms on every continent.
"We are committed to providing a first-class experience to participants-wherever they are in the world," said Lee.
And as a bonus, Virtual PDAC can continue making connections inside the platform with full on-demand access to attendees, exhibitors, investors, products, sponsors, and recorded sessions for three months after the show.
PDAC 2021 Virtual Convention will be held March 8-11.
