High-grade Herbert Gold tops 1.2 million oz

Gold in indicated category jumps by 97% at SE Alaska project North of 60 Mining News – May 14, 2021

Grande Portage Resources Ltd. May 12 reported that it has nearly double the amount of gold in the indicated resource category at Herbert Gold, while also adding ounces to the inferred resources at this high-grade gold project in Southeast Alaska.

Herbert Gold now hosts 3.64 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 10.23 grams per metric ton (1.2 million oz) gold and 5.87 g/t (686,700 oz) silver; plus 1.14 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 8.91 g/t (325,900 oz) gold and 4.63 g/t (169,300 oz) silver.

The amount of gold in the indicated category increased by 97% and the gold reporting to the lower confidence inferred category increased by 29%.

This also marks the first resource that calculated the silver at Herbert Gold.

Silver values at Herbert are especially high in areas with strong galena mineralization, with specific concentrations noted in the Main Vein where it enters the metasediments to the west. Hole DDH11I-4, drilled in the Main Vein, cut 3.04 meters averaging 1,328 g/t silver and 3.42 g/t gold, including 0.93 meters of 4,010 g/t silver and 7.75 g/t gold.

In total, the gold and silver resources at Herbert are found in nine different veins that run across the property. Goat vein, which hosts 841,000 metric tons of the indicated resource averaging 17.1 g/t (462,300 oz) gold and 11.11 g/t (300,200 oz) of silver, is the largest and highest grade of the veins outlined so far.

"We are extremely pleased to present the revised independent resource estimate for the Herbert Gold property, the result of a very diligent effort on the part of the company's exploration team," said Grande Portage Resources President and CEO Ian Klassen. "The 2020 drilling plan was designed to maximize expansion which encountered significant development of gold in the Goat Hanging Wall, Goat Main Vein, Ridge Vein Hanging Wall, Main Vein North Strand and Deep Trench Vein. The Sleeping Giant is a new gold discovery in 2020 and has contributed high grade ounces to the resource."

Sleeping Giant hosts 187,000 metric tons of the indicated resource averaging 16.43 g/t (98,200 oz) of gold and 9.79 g/t (58,700 oz) silver; plus 82,400 metric tons of inferred resource averaging 21.37 g/t (56,600 oz) gold and 12.62 g/t (33,400 oz) of silver.

In April, Grande Portage announced that it has begun the process of collecting the environmental and other baseline data that will be needed for future mine permitting at Herbert Gold.

In the meantime, the company plans to continue expanding the veins and testing new structures with a roughly 8,500-meter drill program for 2021.

"We are confident that the company will continue to significantly expand the resource as it further identifies and drill tests the prolific nature of this mesothermal vein deposit," said Klassen. "We are very pleased that all of the 2020 targets tested added to the resource, and that additional veins (Sleeping Giant) are now being developed."
