COVID case reported at 3 Aces in SE Yukon

After rapid test by Seabridge, workers isolate at remote camp North of 60 Mining News – June 18, 2021

Seabridge Gold Inc. June 15 reported that a contractor at its recently acquired 3 Aces gold project in Canada's Yukon tested positive for COVID-19 when the company conducted a rapid antigen shortly after the person's arrival to carry out preliminary work at the project.

Three other individuals who came into close contact with this individual have all tested negative for COVID-19 following the completion of rapid antigen tests by Seabridge. All four individuals are in self-isolation in a camp at the southeastern Yukon gold project while Seabridge awaits results from a more definitive laboratory test.

In the meantime, the company is working closely with the Yukon Communicable Disease Control, which has initiated contact tracing.

"Reducing the risk of transmission and protecting the health and wellness of our workers and surrounding communities is our top priority," said Seabridge Gold CEO Rudi Fronk. "We have in place a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Plan created for the 3 Aces project to provide a safe work environment and to minimize the infection and transmission risk of COVID-19 to employees, contractors, and local communities."

Seabridge is carefully monitoring the situation but anticipates that operations at 3 Aces will continue as normal.

The 2021 exploration program at 3 Aces got underway on June 7 with line-cutting to support a controlled-source audio-frequency magnetotelluric (CSAMT) geophysical survey.

Work began in the southern part of a 42-line-kilometer grid, working upslope as the snow conditions improved.

The CSAMT geophysical program, expected to get underway shortly, is designed to create a 3D subsurface image to integrate with historical drilling. The aim of this initial work is to expand high-grade gold targets previously identified and detect new targets for initial drill testing on this property Seabridge acquired from Golden Predator Mining Corp. last year.

The 357 square-kilometer (138 square miles) 3 Aces property encompasses the two highest-grade surface gold outcrops discovered to date in Yukon and host 30 mineralized veins that have been found so far through sampling, trenching, roadwork, and drilling

Seabridge said the target concept for this project is consistent with some of the largest and richest gold deposits in the world, including the California Mother Lode Belt, Juneau Gold Belt, Murentau in Uzbekistan, and Obuasi in Ghana.

After in-depth interpretation and integration of the data from the current geophysical program, combined with historical data from Golden Predator's exploration, Seabridge anticipates launching its first drill program at 3 Aces later this year.
