Resource expansion and exploration drilling on the docket North of 60 Mining News – July 23, 2021
Avidian Gold Corp. July 19 announced the start of 2021 exploration at its Golden Zone gold-silver-copper project about six miles (10 kilometers) west of the paved Parks Highway about midway between Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.
This property in Southcentral Alaska hosts several precious and base metal targets along a roughly 12-mile (19 kilometers) trend. Breccia Pipe, the most advanced of these, is a deposit with 4.19 metric tons of indicated resource averaging 1.99 grams per metric ton (267,400 ounces) gold and 10.38 g/t (1.4 million oz) silver.
Avidian geologists kicked off the 2021 exploration at Golden Zone with detailed field mapping, prospecting, and sampling on select locations to follow up on a 2019 reconnaissance mapping and sampling initiative that yielded highly anomalous gold and copper results. This includes the JJ-J4 and MJ discovery areas, where grab samples with up to 5.17 g/t gold and 4.2 g/t Au plus 2.77% copper were collected; and the Silver Kitty discovery, where one grab sample was found with 12.5 g/t gold.
The 2021 program will also include a 1,000-line-kilometer high-resolution drone airborne magnetometer survey over key portions of the property that were not covered by a 588.7-line-kilometer drone-mag survey flown last summer.
Results from the drone survey will help refine targets for an up to 5,000-meter reverse circulation drill program that will start later this summer
The primary objective of the drill program is to follow up on an area known as the Mayflower Extension Zone, which lies to the northeast of Breccia Pipe and is believed to have the highest potential to add ounces to the deposit.
Drilling completed at Mayflower Extension in 2019 cut 21.6 meters averaging 1.46 g/t gold and 17.7 meters averaging 2.12 g/t gold.
The company also plans to carry out drilling at Copper King, a prospect about 4,000 meters south of Breccia Pipe where one hole cut 9.1 meters averaging 8.71 g/t gold, 80.8 g/t silver, and 3.57% copper from a depth of 3.9 meters.
A surface trench dug across Copper King in the vicinity of this intercept in hole CK18-01 cut 30 meters averaging 2.24 g/t gold, 67.2 g/t silver, and 2.79% copper.
Another trench dug about 750 meters to the south cut three meters averaging 16.08 g/t gold, 50.6 g/t silver, and 0.78% copper was encountered in a trench located 750 m south of the high-grade Copper King mineralization, indicating the potential for a large zone of strong mineralization.
