A drill tests the JT deposit during HighGold Mining's 2021 program at the Johnson Tract project in Southcentral Alaska.
HighGold Mining Inc. Oct. 13 reported a long intercept of high-grade gold in an infill hole drilled to collect material for phase I metallurgical work and to provide better definition of the deeper, higher-grade portion of the JT deposit on the company's Johnson Tract project in Alaska.
According to a calculation completed prior to the start of 2020 drilling, the JT deposit hosts 2.14 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 6.07 grams per metric ton (417,000 ounces) gold, 5.8 g/t (397,000 oz) silver, 5.85% (275.3 million pounds) zinc, 0.57% (26.8 million lb) copper, and 0.71% (37.6 million lb) lead.
Targeting the lower reaches of this deposit, hole JT21-125 cut 56.6 meters averaging 18.69 g/t gold, 2.43% zinc, and 0.47% copper from a depth of 236.7 meters.
This intercept included two very high-grade subsections – five meters averaging 64.7 g/t gold, 1.49% zinc, and 0.53% copper from 273.4 meters; and 4.9 meters averaging 114.37 g/t gold, 3.51% zinc, and 0.33% copper from 288.4 meters.
Samples of the core from this hole will be used for metallurgical work being carried out by Blue Coast Metallurgy & Research. This program will complete test work to confirm historical metallurgical results reported in the 1990s and identify possible opportunities for improvement; and advance the metallurgy to support potential future scoping-level process design.

HighGold's first ever hole at DC, reported on Oct. 6, cut 6.4 meters averaging 577.9 g/t (18.58 oz/t) gold, 2,023 g/t (65 oz/t) silver, 2.15% zinc, and 0.3% copper.

The 2021 drill program at Johnson Tract is expected to be wrapped up by the end of the month and an updated mineral resource estimate for JT deposit that includes more the 30,000 meters of drilling completed during the 2020 and 2021 field seasons is slated for completion early in 2022.
