Up to 73.9 g/t gold, 1,500 g/t silver, 21% copper at Chulitna North of 60 Mining News – November 5, 2021
Discovery Africa Ltd. Nov. 3 reported high-grade gold, silver, and copper results from the initial rock sampling program on the company's Chulitna project about four miles west of the Parks Highway, roughly midway between Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Lying immediately south of Avidian Gold Corp.'s Golden Zone project, the Chulitna land package covers the Partin gold-silver-copper target and Coal Creek tin-silver zinc prospect.
After staking roughly 77 square miles of mining claims over these prospects, Australia-based Discovery Africa Chulitna hired an experienced Alaskan geological firm to carry out a field program that included the collection of 167 rock and 86 talus fine samples, as well as geological mapping across various prospects within the project area.
The main exploration program objective was to confirm and expand upon the known gold occurrences at three primary areas of the Partin Creek prospect – North Zone, South Zone, and West Vein.
Highlights from rock samples collected at North Zone include:
• 73.9 g/t grams per metric ton gold, 26.7 g/t silver, and 0.28% copper.
• 28.7 g/t gold, 304 g/t silver, and 2.62% copper.
• 11.55 g/t gold, 96.7 g/t silver, and 1.06% copper.
Highlights from South Zone include:
• 20.2 g/t gold, 477 g/t silver, and 1.49% copper.
• 16.75 g/t gold, 38.7 g/t silver, and 1.59% copper.
• 22.9 g/t gold, 95.3 g/t silver, and 0.35% copper.
Highlights from West Vein include:
• 30.9 g/t gold, 1,500 g/t silver, and 1.37% copper.
• 11.85 g/t gold, 99 g/t silver, and 2.63% copper.
• 11.55 g/t gold, 96.7 g/t silver, and 1.96% copper.
• 0.31 g/t gold, 22.6 g/t silver, and 21.1% copper.
In addition, samples of talus fines collected along the base of steep cliffs at Partin Creek returned grades as high as 7.18 g/t gold and 12.25 g/t silver.
Discovery Africa says it is encouraged by the results from this initial phase of exploration sampling and is preparing for the next stage of exploration aimed at identifying drill targets for subsequent programs.
The company will continue to review and assess the historical exploration results from other priority prospects within the larger Chulitna project area.
