Reflects Aussie mineral explorer's focus on Chulitna, Alaska North of 60 Mining News – December 10, 2021
Discovery Africa Ltd. Dec. 7 changed its name to Discovery Alaska Ltd., a moniker that better reflects the Australia-based company's focus on Chulitna and potentially other mineral exploration projects across the Far North state.
In February, Discovery announced that it had staked 308 state mining claims covering historic gold-silver-copper and tin-silver prospects in Southcentral Alaska.
The roughly 77-square-mile land package now known as Chulitna covers the Partin Creek and Coal Creek prospects about four miles west of the Parks Highway and about 155 miles north of Anchorage.
Discovery hired an experienced Alaskan geological firm to carry out a field program that primarily focused on confirming and expanding upon known gold occurrences at three primary areas of the Partin Creek prospect – North Zone, South Zone, and West Vein.
Some of the highlights from this sampling include:
• 73.9 g/t grams per metric ton gold, 26.7 g/t silver, and 0.28% copper.
• 28.7 g/t gold, 304 g/t silver, and 2.62% copper.
• 20.2 g/t gold, 477 g/t silver, and 1.49% copper.
• 30.9 g/t gold, 1,500 g/t silver, and 1.37% copper.
Further results and details from the 2021 sampling program can be read at Discovery Africa confirms Alaska discovery in the Nov. 5, 2021 edition of North of 60 Mining News.
During a meeting that followed these results, Discovery Africa shareholders approved the proposed new name, and it was officially changed to Discovery Alaska with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on Dec. 7. The company continues to trade under the original Australian Stock Exchange ticker symbol DAF.
Discovery Alaska says it is continuing to identify and review new projects that may complement its current activities at Chulitna and in Alaska.
