Receives next five assay results despite significant backlog North of 60 Mining News – January 14, 2022
Kicking off the new year, Banyan Gold Corp. Jan. 11 released the analytical results from the next five diamond drill holes drilled during the 2021 exploration campaign at the rapidly developing Powerline deposit on the company's AurMac gold property in the Yukon.
In light of the massive delays that has developed for assays, for Banyan to receive these results so early in the year certainly spells a good start to 2022.
Located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Victoria Gold Corp.'s Eagle Gold Mine, AurMac hosts 52.58 million metric tons in the inferred resource category averaging 0.52 g/t (774,926 oz) gold in two deposits – Powerline and Airstrip.
Powerline hosts 6.58 million metric tons in the inferred resource category averaging 0.61 g/t (129,019 oz) gold while Airstrip hosts the bulk of the project's resource at 46 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 0.52 g/t (774,926 oz) gold, according to a calculation completed in 2020.
Results from these latest holes are reported to be consistent with previous exploration drill campaigns at Powerline, with the areal extent of the interpreted gold mineralization from surface continuing to expand with every new drill hole.
Highlights from the latest batch of assays received from last year's exploration include:
• 84.5 meters of 1.32 g/t gold from surface in hole DDH AX-21-151, including 72.5 meters of 1.53 g/t gold from 22 meters, as well as 3.1 meters of 1.52 g/t gold from 76.2 meters.
• 79.7 meters of 0.43 g/t gold from a depth of 43.3 meters in DDH AX-21-136.
• 51.8 meters of 0.60 g/t gold from surface in DDH AX-21-159.
"Assays from these 100-meter centered drill holes continue to demonstrate the on-surface and near-surface gold mineralization potential of the Powerline deposit, as well as the continuity of the mineralization across this growing zone," said President and CEO of Banyan Gold Tara Christie.
In 2021, Banyan completed 30,091 meters of drilling in 135 diamond drill holes, with assay results from 63 holes remaining outstanding. Assays have been reported as they are received and not in numerical order.
Drilling activities continued until mid-December, and thus drill assay results are expected to continue to be received through May.
Diamond drilling at the AurMac property since the announcement of the maiden resource during the first quarter of 2020 is now over 40,000 meters, all of which have targeted resource expansion at the Airstrip and Powerline deposits, as well as assessment of resource potential at the Aurex Hill zone.
The planned 2022 AurMac property exploration campaign currently has 30,000 meters of diamond drilling proposed – split between the Powerline and Aurex Hill targets, with three drill rigs slated to begin turning in late January.
"Field crews are currently preparing to resume drilling at the AurMac property this month with a focus to follow up on the encouraging 2021 Powerline deposit results through further expansion of the mineralized footprint," Christie added.
Additional drill locations will be determined after a complete review of all analytical results from the 2021 drilling is available.
