Tom East gives high-grade cut for Fireweed

Consistent results from highest-grade deposit at Macmillan North of 60 Mining News – January 14, 2022

Fireweed Zinc Ltd. Jan. 12 makes its first announcement of the year with assay results from a hole that cut 6.92% zinc, 5.03% lead, and 48.7 grams per metric ton silver at Tom East, the highest-grade deposit on the company's Macmillan Pass property in Canada's Yukon.

Tom and the nearby Jason deposit currently host 11.2 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 6.59% (1.63 billion pounds) zinc, 2.48% (620 million lb) lead, and 21.33 g/t (7.7 million ounces) silver; plus 39.5 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 5.84% (5.08 billion lb) zinc, 3.14% (2.73 billion lb) lead, and 38.15 g/t (48.4 million oz) silver.

The latest results from its 2021 drilling program at the road-accessible project next to the Northwest Territories Border cut an infill hole that encountered high-grade laminated mineralization.

"Tom East continues to deliver high-grade results consistent with previous drilling in the area," said Fireweed Zinc CEO Brandon Macdonald. "As we continue to develop the resource, it is highly encouraging that we continue to intersect these wide high-grade zones."

Tom East currently hosts 810,000 metric tons of indicated resource averaging 8.74% (160 million lb) zinc, 8.62% (150 million lb) lead and 110 g/t (2.85 million oz) silver; plus 1.68 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 9.86% (370 million lb) zinc, 12.86% (480 million lb) lead, and 170 g/t (9.17 million oz) silver.

The Tom East zone is hosted within and around the hinge of a tight north-plunging syncline fold containing stratiform laminated sphalerite, galena, and barite mineralization.

Hole TS21-001, which was drilled at Tom East, intersected 10.41% zinc, 11.58% lead, and 149.9 g/t silver over eight meters, within a broader interval of 6.92% zinc, 5.03% lead, and 48.7 g/t silver over 38 meters.

"These results will be used to guide future drilling, enhance existing geological models, and upgrade the resource," added Macdonald. "In the coming weeks, we look forward to more drill results from the last two holes at Boundary West."

Presently, the two holes are still pending assay results due to the heavy backlog from COVID-19 protocols on assay labs.
