Sitka excited as it awaits assays from continued drilling at RC North of 60 Mining News – July 22, 2022
Sitka Gold Corp. July 20 announced an update on the ongoing diamond drill program that began in February at its RC Gold project in the Yukon.
Already completing approximately 4,990 meters of drilling in 16 holes, Sitka has focused its efforts on the recently outlined Blackjack zone.
"We are very encouraged by the persistent mineralization and several occurrences of visible gold being observed as we continue to step out both laterally and vertically in all directions from discovery hole 21 at the Blackjack zone," said Cor Coe, CEO of Sitka Gold.
The RC Gold project consists of a 376-square-kilometer (145 square miles) contiguous district-scale land package located in the newly road-accessible Clear Creek, Big Creek, and Sprague Creek districts in the heart of Yukon's Tombstone Gold Belt.
Considered the largest consolidated land package strategically positioned mid-way between Victoria Gold's Eagle Gold mine and Sabre Gold's Brewery Creek gold mine, the RC project comprises five underlying properties – RC, Bee Bop, Mahtin, Clear Creek, and Barney Ridge.
Recently, Sitka Gold identified a large 500-meter by 2,000-meter intrusion-related gold system on RC spanning the Blackjack, Saddle, and Eiger zones and, to date, has drilled 34 diamond drill holes into this system.
This has been the main focus of the company's drill programs at RC Gold for the last three years, which have returned several significant gold intercepts, including the discovery hole in the Blackjack zone from last year – hole 21, which intersected 220.1 meters averaging 1.17 g/t gold from surface that included 50.5 meters averaging 2.08 g/t gold.

Drilling continues at Blackjack
Four subsequent drill holes during the early months confirmed the Blackjack gold discovery, including the last drill hole announced, DDRCCC-22-025, a step-out drill hole 80 meters to the east that returned 349 meters of 0.71 g/t gold near surface, and 221 meters of 1.01 g/t gold, and 2 meters of 15.15 g/t gold.
Samples from 12 holes of the current second phase of drilling have been sent to the assay lab and are pending results.
"Given what is being observed in the drill core, we expect the assay results from this phase of drilling to date will continue to expand on the known gold mineralization in this area and increase the parameters of what appears to be a very significant intrusion related gold occurrence," said Coe.
Ongoing drilling since 2020 has demonstrated that better-grade gold mineralization at Blackjack is hosted in sheeted quartz sulfide veins and veinlets in very specific geology. All the drill holes completed to date in the current phase of drilling have intersected into this specific geology, with visible gold being identified in several locations.
"With an access road that is useable year-round and proximity to additional infrastructure such as the highway and powerlines, the RC Gold project is in an ideal location for future development," finished Coe.
