Sitka Gold Corp. Nov. 18 announced the latest batch of assays from the summer drilling program at the RC Gold project in Yukon, Canada. While sixteen diamond drill holes were completed overall, these results come from an additional five Sitka could not wait to report.
"The results from this second set of drill holes from our summer drilling program continue to intersect broad zones of anomalous gold as we drill test areas proximal to the core of the intrusion-hosted mineralization in the Blackjack zone discovery where Hole 21 (DDRCCC-21-021) intersected 220.1 meters of 1.17 grams per metric ton gold from surface that included 50.5 meters of 2.08 g/t gold," said Sitka Gold CEO Cor Coe.
Due to the magnitude of Hole 21, Sitka has been extensively drilling in the areas near this initial hole.
Although multiple new holes have been drilled since Hole 21, this batch of results comes from DDRCCC-22-032 through 036. Highlights include:
• 19 meters averaging 1.03 g/t gold from a depth of 292 meters in hole DDRCCC-22-033; including 10.1 meters averaging 1.56 g/t gold at 104.6 meters.
• 132.1 meters of 0.51 g/t gold from a depth of 43.9 meters in DDRCCC-22-036; including 1.1 meters of 20.4 g/t gold at 282.9 meters.
With results from the first 11 holes from its summer program, Sitka says this extensive mineralization was expected due to the geology of the target.
"As expected, proximal mineralization hosted by metasedimentary rocks intruded by intrusive dykes and sills have produced significant gold mineralization," said Coe. "The intersections reported contribute to the potential gold resource that Sitka is drilling in the Blackjack-Saddle-Eiger corridor as we test the metasedimentary hosted mineralization as highlighted by the intersection of 80 metres grading 0.59 g/t gold in Saddle zone hole DDRCCC-21-019 located 600 metres to the east of the intrusion-hosted mineralization in the core area of the Blackjack zone."
While all the holes from this batch, save for one, cut mineralization, these results only add to the growing pool of delineating overall knowledge of the geologic makeup and extent of mineralization.
Hole 032 was collared approximately 230 meters east of Hole 21; 032 was drilled on a section 100 meters southwest from 21; 034 was collared at the northeast edge of the Blackjack zone to test for a significant gold-in-soil anomaly, however, it was the only hole that reported no significant results; 035 was collared at the northeast edge of Blackjack much like 034, roughly 300 meters west of Saddle zone Hole 19; and finally, 036 was collared 165 meters to the northwest and on-section with Hole 21.
"We are eagerly awaiting the results of the remaining five diamond drill holes from this Phase 2 drilling program, several of which contain visible gold and have the potential to expand the intrusion-hosted mineralization in the Blackjack zone with our district-scale, road accessible RC Gold project," finished Coe.
