HighGold reports assays from final 2022 holes at new target North of 60 Mining News – December 9, 2022
HighGold Mining Inc. Dec. 8 reported that the final batch of assay results from its 2022 drilling of the Ellis Zone discovery provides further evidence of the potential for multiple high-grade gold deposits on its Johnson Tract gold project in Southcentral Alaska.
JT Deposit at Johnson Tract hosts 3.49 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 5.33 grams per metric ton (598,000 ounces) gold, 6 g/t (673,000 oz) silver, 5.21% (400.8 million pounds) zinc, 0.59% (43.1 million lb) copper, and 0.67% (51.5 million lb) lead.
When you calculate the value of all the metals into gold equivalency, this comes to 1.05 million oz of indicated resource averaging 9.39 g/t gold-equivalent.
Situated about 2.5 miles north of JT Deposit, Ellis Zone in the Difficult Creek area of Johnson Tract is showing similar potential.
"The 2022 drill program at the Ellis Zone was very successful in sketching-in a new center of high-grade gold and base metal mineralization with similar characteristics to the main +1Moz JT Deposit located 4km away," said HighGold Mining CEO Darwin Green.
HighGold discovered Ellis Zone in DC21-010, a 2021 drill hole that cut 6.4 meters averaging 577.9 g/t (18.58 oz/t) gold, 2,023 g/t (65 oz/t) silver, 2.15% zinc, and 0.3% copper.
This year, the company followed up on the bonanza gold grades in the Ellis Zone discovery hole with step-out drilling. Highlights from previously reported 2022 holes include:
• 42.8 meters averaging 3.4 g/t gold, 23 g/t silver, 0.21% copper, and 2.06% zinc in hole DC22-036.
• 11.9 meters averaging 21.68 g/t gold, 30 g/t silver, 0.61% copper, and 4.2% zinc in hole DC22-043.
• 35.2 meters averaging 4.2 g/t gold, 6.1 g/t silver, 0.12% copper, and 3.19% zinc in hole DC22-045.
• 14.8 meters averaging 10.14 g/t gold, 13.8 g/t silver, 0.28% copper, and 5.97% zinc in hole DC22-046.
Continuing the systematic 25- to 50-meter step-out drilling along strike and at depth, the final batch of assays continued to trace strong mineralization to the west and down-plunge; highlights include:
• 4.1 meters averaging 3.28 g/t gold, 14.1 g/t silver, 0.29% copper, and 3.14% zinc in hole DC22-037.
• 6.6 meters averaging 1.43 g/t gold, 13.4 g/t silver, 0.62% copper, and 4.35% zinc in hole DC22-049.
• 3.6 meters averaging 0.9 g/t gold, 3.1 g/t silver, 0.21% copper, and 7.91% zinc in hole DC22-051.
• 15.5 meters averaging 2.99 g/t gold, 6.4 g/t silver, 0.06% copper, and 1.49% zinc in hole DC22-056.
• 16.1 meters averaging 0.36 g/t gold, 4.7 g/t silver, 0.21% copper, and 3.97% zinc in hole DC22-060.
"This is strong validation of the district potential for multiple deposits and the opportunity to contribute additional mineral resources to the existing resource base," said Green. "To date, the Ellis Zone has been documented over a strike length of 125 meters and from surface to a depth of 225 meters and is open to expansion. It remains early days in the exploration of this promising new zone, and we look forward to returning in 2023 with larger step-outs, particularly down plunge to the west and to depth."
HighGold completed 6,056 meters in 43 holes in the Difficult Creek prospect area at Johnson Tract – 39 holes at Ellis Zone, and five testing nearby targets. Assays from all 2022 drilling completed in the DC prospect area have now been reported.
