Blackwolf drills abundant VG in BC

Harry property may hold Premier or Brucejack gold grades North of 60 Mining News – October 6, 2023

Blackwolf Copper and Gold Ltd. Oct. 3 announced that its drilling has encountered coarse visible gold at the Swann Zone target on the company's first Northern British Columbia property, Harry.

Announced mid-June, Blackwolf made an offer to purchase BC-focused gold and silver explorer Optimum Ventures Ltd., which carried with it the claims to Harry, a 1,333-hectare (3,294 acres) gold exploration property located between Ascot Resources' Premier gold mine and Scottie Resources Corp.'s Scottie gold mine projects in BC's Golden Triangle.

Putting in a binding letter of intent to acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Optimum, the company wasted no time and got to drilling this prospective precious metal project.

Completing its maiden drilling program at Cantoo at the beginning of September, Blackwolf moved its drills over to begin work at Harry before the season turned.

The drilling at Harry targeted the Swann zone, a northwest-trending structural corridor typified by multiple overlapping phases of quartz and sulfide veins.

Seven holes were completed from two pads for a total of 1,740 meters of drilling, with Blackwolf reporting each hole encountered significant mineralization. The sixth hole encountered coarse visible gold, including a 10-centimeter-long streak at approximately 140 meters downhole.

This drill hole was roughly 250 meters from a 2021 diamond drill hole completed by Optimum that returned 15.64 meters averaging 3.1 grams per metric ton gold, 433.4 g/t silver, 0.6% copper, 7.17% lead, and 8.74% zinc beginning at 8.75 meters depth.

Further elucidating the sixth hole, Blackwolf says that based on previous surface sampling and limited drilling by Optimum, Swann hosts differing vein phases that have been known to contain significant gold, silver, and base metal-rich mineralization that can include pyrite, galena, sphalerite, tetrahedrite, and other sulfosalt minerals.

These multiphase, structurally complex and evolved metallogenic systems have similarities to other high-grade gold-silver deposits from the Golden Triangle, such as Brucejack and Premier.

"The presence and quantity of visible gold in the drill core at the Swann Zone is promising," said Blackwolf Copper and Gold CEO Morgan Lekstrom. "We eagerly await assay results from the Swann Zone, where drilling has expanded the strike length by an impressive 250 meters and remains open for expansion in all directions."

Initial assays are expected in the coming weeks.
