Assays return widest intersects with similarly excellent grades North of 60 Mining News – December 1, 2023
Li-FT Power Ltd. Nov. 28 announced the next batch of assays from its 34,238-meter drill program that produced nearly 200 holes during 2023. Gradually making progress each week on the immense quantity of drill core, the latest results come from the next five holes drill at four pegmatite targets on the company's Yellowknife Lithium project in Northwest Territories, Canada.
Similar to past results, the latest batch comes from five holes drilled at the Ki, Shorty, and BIG East pegmatites, as well as a single hole from the Fi SW target, which produced no significant results.
Keeping consistent with past results, high grades over 1% lithium oxide continue to denote the extent of mineralization that the Yellowknife Lithium project contains.
Highlights from the latest holes include:
• 21 meters averaging 1.12% lithium oxide from a depth of 69 meters in hole YLP-0087 (Ki).
• 17 meters averaging 1.28% Li2O from 42 meters in YLP-0091 (Shorty), with a separate interval returning 16 meters averaging 1.01% Li2O.
• 13 meters averaging 1.34% Li2O from 58 meters; eight meters averaging 0.86% Li2O from 81 meters; four meters averaging 1.47% Li2O from 101 meters; and three meters averaging 1.09% Li2O from 112 meters in YLP-0085 (BIG East).
• 10 meters averaging 1.58% Li2O from seven meters; four meters averaging 1.44% Li2O from 34 meters; and six meters averaging 1.19% Li2O from 61 meters in YLP-0084 (BIG East).
"Drill intersects from this week's results at Ki are the widest to date with excellent grades," said Li-FT Power CEO Francis MacDonald. "The northern portion of Shorty, where two arms of the pegmatite have been structurally juxtaposed, has benefits from an open pit mining perspective. BIG East continues to deliver excellent widths in grades across the pegmatite dyke system. We continue to be pleased with the consistency of excellent drill intersects produced across the YLP portfolio."
With these five holes, the reported amount climbs to 92 out of 198 diamond drill holes for a total of 16,214 meters. While the season may have ended for active exploration, passive accumulation of backlogged data will continue to illuminate the resource held beneath the Yellowknife Lithium project.
