North Arrow scratches at lithium surface

LDG and MacKay both return samples above 5% lithium oxide North of 60 Mining News – December 8, 2023

North Arrow Minerals Inc. Dec. 4 announced highly encouraging assays from its sampling programs at the MacKay and LDG lithium projects in Northwest Territories that validate the company's decision to branch into energy metal exploration.

Located within the Lac de Gras kimberlite field, home to the world-class Ekati and Diavik diamond mines, the LDG lithium project resides near the easternmost portion of a diamond exploration property just south of Diavik.

Just 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) south, the MacKay property is immediately adjacent to the winter road connecting the Lac de Gras mines to Yellowknife, of which LDG is roughly five kilometers (three miles) from the winter road.

To date, exploration at LDG has identified two lithium-bearing pegmatites, SD2 and SD4, with the most recent work revealing initial samples of up to 1.8% lithium oxide and 2.1% lithium oxide, respective to the explored target.

Similarly, work at MacKay has outlined the MK1 and MK3 pegmatite targets, with initial results returning samples up to 1.93% and 2.3% lithium oxide.

These assays also confirmed MK3 as a drill target.

"The initial lithium assays from the MK3 spodumene pegmatite at North Arrow's MacKay project are highly encouraging and confirm MK3 as a new drill target," said North Arrow Minerals President and CEO Ken Armstrong. "Additionally, the confirmation of significant lithium grades in the SD2 area of the LDG project provides confidence the area hosts multiple, subparallel spodumene pegmatites."

At MacKay, 14 of 17 samples collected from the verified target returned grades over 1% lithium oxide, including five representative grab samples returning incredible grades: 1.1%, 1.92%, 2.71%, 4.08%, and 5.25% lithium oxide.

Two additional composite four-meter channel samples from MK3 returned 1.49% and 1.43% lithium oxide.

Three grab samples from the previously untested northeastern extent of MK1 returned 0.11%, 2.62%, and 3.21% lithium oxide.

At LDG, samples from the northern extent of SD2 returned grades ranging from 1.46% to 3.19% lithium oxide, which the company says confirms an extension of spodumene mineralization 260 meters to the north.

Adding to LDG's lithium potential, a prospecting sample at the southern end of a newly mapped 200-meter-long subcropping spodumene pegmatite approximately 120 meters west of the main SD2 showing returned an incredible 5.57% lithium oxide.

"Collectively, these results help advance our thesis that the LDG and MacKay projects could host spodumene pegmatites of similar size and grade to the deposits currently being drilled by other workers in the Yellowknife Pegmatite Province (YPP)," added Armstrong. "With the MacKay and LDG projects, and the DeStaffany project in the YPP, North Arrow now holds a 100% interest in three Northwest Territories lithium projects where, during 2023, we have defined multiple drill ready spodumene pegmatites. We are working towards seeing all three properties drilled in 2024."
