Banyan Gold Corp. Jan. 15 reported the remaining assays from a robust 2023 drill program that significantly expanded the gold mineralized footprint on the company's AurMac project in Yukon.
Roughly 80% of the 24,700 meters of drilling carried out at AurMac last year was focused on the Powerline and Aurex Hill deposits, with the balance on new targets.
"With three drill seasons since our initial resource in 2020, Banyan has taken the resource at AurMac to 6.2 million ounces demonstrating the strength and size of the mineralized gold system," said Banyan Gold President and CEO Tara Christie. "This year's drilling post the 2023 resource update, continues to expand the mineralized footprint and importantly has confirmed that Powerline and Aurex Hill deposits are connected and will be combined in subsequent resources as the Powerline deposit."
The latest batch of assay results come from 18 holes drilled around the Aurex deposit. Highlights include:
• 41.3 meters averaging 0.51 grams per metric ton gold from a depth of 118.6 meters in hole AX-23-449.
• 25.6 meters averaging 0.82 g/t gold from 21.6 meters in AX-23-454.
• 54.3 meters averaging 0.56 g/t gold from 33.5 meters in AX-23-465.
• 70.4 meters averaging 0.41 g/t gold from 124.1 meters in AX-23-478.
• 37.8 meters averaging 0.71 g/t gold from 168 meters in AX-23-481.
• 57.3 meters averaging 0.49 g/t gold from 81.5 meters in AX-23-495.
• 95.7 meters averaging 0.29 g/t gold from 145.8 meters in AX-23-500.
• 114 meters averaging 0.34 g/t gold from 117.7 meters in AX-23-501.
• 152.1 meters averaging 0.31 g/t gold from 47.1 meters in AX-23-506.
• 35.7 meters averaging 0.95 g/t gold from 24.4 meters in AX-23-507.
• 127.1 meters averaging 0.37 g/t gold from 49.1 meters in AX-23-508.
• 98 meters averaging 0.29 g/t gold from 90.1 meters in AX-23-511.
• 106.3 meters averaging 0.35 g/t gold from 43.1 meters in AX-23-517.
Utilizing a strategic methodology to drill its deposits, last year, Banyan announced an updated mineral resource estimate containing an impressive 6.2 million ounces of gold.
According to this calculation, Airstrip hosts 41.2 million metric tons of pit-constrained inferred resource averaging 0.68 g/t (897,000 oz) gold; Powerline hosts 197.4 million metric tons of pit-constrained inferred resource averaging 0.61 g/t (3.84 million oz) gold; and Aurex Hill hosts 74.3 million metric tons of pit-constrained inferred resource averaging 0.6 g/t (1.45 million oz) gold.
Successfully closing the gap between Powerline and Aurex Hill, the knowledge that these deposits are, in fact, a single large body, will certainly enable better metrics in future resource estimates.
