Snowline Gold Corp. May 16 announced the mobilization of its crews and staff to the Rogue property, as it begins a planned 25,000-meter exploration and drilling program for 2024.
"We are excited to be back in the field for our earliest start and our largest exploration campaign to date," said Snowline Gold Vice President of Exploration Thomas Branson.
Lush with capital, teeming with targets, and confident in a portfolio that could easily become yet another prolific mining district in Canada's Yukon, Snowline started humbly and has quickly grown into a substantial force in the territory.
Acquiring the remaining 30% stake in its Einarson project, unearthing new targets in close proximity to Rogue, and increasing its treasury with savvy investments, Snowline has had a busy off season and is ready to get drills turning in 2024.
Of the 25,000 meters planned for the year, 15,000 has been allocated to advance the company's understanding of Valley and to further delineate the at-surface, high-grade zone encountered from drilling the year prior, while testing for potential extensions of the system in various directions.
"At Valley, our drilling will push to expand the extent of our known mineralization and to gain a more quantitative understanding of the discovery, both in terms of its overall gold endowment and in terms of assessing potential economics of the relatively high grade, near surface gold system."
Drilling at Valley will also be complemented by ongoing metallurgical work and environmental surveys, along with scoping studies as necessary to inform economic assessment of the discovery.
The balance of the 2024 drilling will be assigned to an aggressive regional drill campaign designed to test multiple other targets. This will include a 1,000-meter phase one drill program at Aurelius, one of its newly discovered prospects; 1,000 meters at Cujo, a target added to its portfolio in early 2023; 1,000 meters at Reid, similarly added at the time it acquired Cujo; and Gracie, where drilling will build on earlier results in vectoring toward the known intrusion, targeting mineralization within.
With the recent consolidation of ownership at Einarson, Snowline also plans to conduct a 4,000-meter program at the Jupiter target as follow up to the high-grade orogenic mineralization encountered in 2021.
Depending on how it goes, the company may allocate additional drilling to the previously mentioned targets, or as phase one programs at other targets that Snowline deems to have strong geological merit to host significant zones of mineralization.
The 2024 program will also be complemented by extensive regional surface work. Baseline regional stream sediment sampling will begin in early June to bolster and expand existing data in the Rogue area, followed by extensive soil sampling around known targets and anomalous areas.
The early start will also provide time during the field season for follow-up and potential phase one drilling on select areas that hold promising results.
Large-scale and target-scale geophysical programs are also planned for the 2024 field season, including regional electromagnetic and target-scale magnetic surveys, building on datasets that have proven useful in delineating alteration, structures and intrusive bodies associated with gold mineralization in exploration at Rogue to date.
Ongoing environmental surveys at Valley and on the broader Rogue Project will continue and, as with previous seasons, will be complemented by progressive reclamation of work sites.
In conjunction with exploration, Snowline aims to construct an additional 50-person camp in the vicinity of Valley, which will support the existing camp at Forks that serves as a technical base and regional exploration hub for the company.
The new camp will support efficient drilling at Valley, while allowing Snowline to accelerate regional exploration efforts. It is anticipated that the camp will be functional in June.
"The construction of a second 50-person camp will increase efficiencies at Valley along with our capacity to support regional exploration with additional drills," added Branson. "Following our substantial progress in 2023, we are keen to continue to unlock the value of what is effectively an only-mover position in a rapidly emerging gold district."
