Klondike Gold Corp. June 18 reported promising prospecting results from its Stander Zone at the company's Klondike District Property in Yukon, Canada, including a sample reaching bonanza-grade gold mineralization.
"Persistent scientific and exploration efforts reevaluating the Klondike District are steadily being rewarded," said Klondike Gold President and CEO Peter Tallman.
Last week, Klondike wrapped up a 19-hole (2,750 meters) first phase of 2024 drilling at its namesake project that targeted the expansion of gold mineralization adjacent to the current resource sub-area of the Stander Zone.
In addition to the successful drilling, prospecting targeted a newly interpreted outcrop line on the Eldorado Creek slope of Stander and successfully located and sampled areas of quartz veining.
With the recent completion, Klondike contacted MSALABS to provide gold analysis via PhotonAssay and is awaiting assay results.
In the meantime, prospecting and hand trenching yielded quartz veining with visible gold in three areas spanning 150 meters distance along the surface projection of Stander Zone. Eleven samples were collected, with the three best samples returning 24.9 grams per metric ton gold, 30.3 g/t gold, and 41.2 g/t gold along strike from southeast to northwest respectively, from each of the three areas.
Klondike adds that these prospecting results are significant in that they potentially demonstrate continuity of high-grade gold mineralization from the 2023 discovery drill intercepts upward to surface exposures.
"An overlooked and potentially world-class orogenic gold belt is emerging as demonstrated by recent academic research results, by the company's 2023 multiple discoveries of high-grade orogenic gold veins at surface and in drill core, and by this news release confirming continuity of the Stander Zone to surface with greater than 1 ounce per metric ton gold grade samples as demonstrated by prospecting," said Tallman. "This has focused the company's multi-phase 2024 drill program on areas along Eldorado Creek as the best target for discovery of significant volumes of orogenic gold mineralization and near-term expansion of our existing Stander Zone mineral resource."
The second phase of 2024 drilling at Klondike, expected to be another 2,500 meters, is now underway. The company says that this phase will test the potential for high-grade, near-surface and southeasterly striking gold veining at Stander and will also include tests for additional mineralization at nearby Gay Gulch.
