Cascadia step-out hits strong copper

North of 60 Mining News - July 24, 2024

Drills tap substantial mineralization; "We've just caught the tip of the iceberg at Catch."

Cascadia Minerals Ltd. July 22 announced results from its 2024 phase-one diamond drill program at the Catch property in the Yukon, revealing that a strategic 315-meter step-out from the original discovery hole successfully intersected high-grade copper over substantial widths, underscoring the potential size and strength of the mineral system.

Located in an underexplored part of southcentral Yukon, about 56 kilometers (35 miles) southeast of Carmacks, Catch is a 119-square-kilometer (46 square miles) property prospective for significant porphyry copper-gold mineralization.

In addition to Catch, Cascadia is exploring several other projects. These include PIL in British Columbia, as well as Rosy, Sands of Time, and Idaho Creek in Yukon.

Last year, Cascadia conducted the inaugural diamond drilling program at Catch, a property the company optioned at the onset of 2022. This program immediately confirmed a significant new copper-gold porphyry discovery at Spark Zone (formerly Diorite Zone).

Two holes were completed at this target, both of which encountered mineralization – hole CA-23-002 returned 116.6 meters averaging 0.31% copper and 0.3 grams per metric ton gold from a depth of 356 meters, and CA-23-001 cut 45.83 meters averaging 0.3% copper and 0.15 g/t gold from surface.

With a 2024 program that got underway in early May, Cascadia has continued its strategic campaign to explore and develop promising copper targets critical for the clean energy transition.

The 2024 phase-one drill program at Catch consisted of three diamond drill holes totaling 1,613 meters at Spark Zone.

Highlights from this program include:

177 meters averaging 0.25% copper and 0.14 g/t gold from a depth of 252 meters in hole CA-24-006; this included a significant intercept of 106 meters averaging 0.37% copper and 0.22 g/t gold from 309 meters.

579 meters averaging 0.1% copper and 0.01 g/t gold from 51 meters in CA-24-007, including a long stretch of 103 meters averaging 0.22% copper and 0.04 g/t gold.

217 meters averaging 0.1% copper and 0.02 g/t gold from 196 meters in CA-24-008, including 31 meters averaging 0.25% copper and 0.02 g/t gold from 196 meters.

"To have stepped out over 300 meters from our discovery hole at the Spark Zone and hit higher grade copper over a significant width is incredibly positive and a testament to the size and strength of the system," said Cascadia Minerals President and CEO Graham Downs. "All three of the holes drilled this spring achieved our goal of intersecting porphyry copper-gold mineralization and critical alteration data, which will help us vector towards the core of the system and target broader zones of higher grade potassic alteration."

With such promising results, the company has already begun phase-two 2024 exploration program that is slated to include an additional 1,500 meters of diamond drilling at Spark Zone and will comprise two to three holes stepping out toward the southeast in the interpreted core of the porphyry system.

To further refine drill targeting, additional induced polarization (IP) geophysical surveys are also planned to the east.

"Phase two exploration is now underway to drill step-out holes further to the southeast, in the direction of higher-temperature alteration," added Downs. "New, grassroots porphyry discoveries in North America are very rare, and typically take dozens of holes to vector towards the core of the system. We've just caught the tip of the iceberg at Catch and look forward to continuing to unlock this district-scale porphyry opportunity."

At the onset of the 2024 exploration season, Cascadia expanded its portfolio with the addition of two new properties, Mack's and Milner.

Mack's, located 44 kilometers (27 miles) south of Carmacks, covers 75 square kilometers (29 square miles) and has shown promising copper-gold mineralization in early sampling. Milner, situated 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Whitehorse, spans 44 square kilometers (17 square miles) and has also yielded encouraging results from preliminary exploration.

Planned work at Mack's and Milner, as well as the Sands of Time project just south of the Casino copper-gold mine project, include comprehensive mapping, prospecting, and soil sampling to further define the mineralization and prepare for future drilling campaigns.

Additionally, the company is currently drilling at PIL, a property in the Toodoggone region of British Columbia that hosts numerous porphyry copper-gold and epithermal gold targets.
