Sitka hits best gold intercept at RC Gold

North of 60 Mining News - August 23, 2024

Latest drilling expands high-grade gold potential along the new Blackjack Corridor.

Sitka Gold Corp. Aug. 19 announced the latest results from its ongoing 2024 diamond drilling campaign at the RC Gold project in Yukon, including a significant 290.5-meter intercept averaging 1.1 grams per metric ton gold, the company's best result to date.

Located in the heart of Yukon's Tombstone Gold Belt, the 431-square-kilometer (166 square miles) RC Gold project lies roughly 100 kilometers (62 miles) east of Dawson City, between the Eagle Gold and Brewery Creek gold mines, in a fertile yet largely underexplored placer mining district.

According to an inaugural calculation completed last year, the Blackjack deposit at RC hosts 33.7 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 0.83 grams per metric ton (900,000 ounces) gold at a cutoff grade of 0.25 g/t gold; and the Eiger deposit hosts an additional 27.4 million metric tons averaging 0.5 g/t (440,000 oz) gold at the same cutoff for a combined total of 1.34 million oz of gold.

In early 2024, Sitka Gold mobilized for its winter drilling campaign at RC Gold, kicking off a 15,000-meter program aimed at expanding the Blackjack and Eiger deposits. By March, the company had reported significant progress, including intercepts that demonstrated the potential for high-grade mineralization at the southern extent of Blackjack.

Highlights from previous assay results at Blackjack include:

191 meters averaging 1.16 g/t gold in hole DDRCCC-24-057, including 11 meters of 5.8 g/t gold.

154 meters averaging 1.47 g/t gold in hole DDRCCC-24-058.

The strong results from holes DDRCCC-24-057 and DDRCCC-24-058 during the winter drilling program encouraged Sitka to explore further in the southern extent of Blackjack, leading to the identification of what the company is now referring as the Blackjack Mineralized Corridor.

Building on this discovery, the latest drilling results from holes have continued to reveal promising mineralization, with multiple occurrences of visible gold observed.

Highlights from the latest drill results include:

290.5 meters averaging 1.1 g/t gold from a depth of 236 meters in hole DDRCCC-24-062, including 34.5 meters of 2.61 g/t gold.

206 meters averaging 0.64 g/t gold from 127.5 meters in DDRCCC-24-061, including 27 meters of 1.01 g/t gold.

"Drilling continues to expand gold mineralization south of the Blackjack gold deposit with some of our highest-grade gold intercepts reported to date in Hole 62 which was collared 145 meters southeast of the current pit boundary and 185 meters south of Hole 31, the most southerly hole in the current published resource," said Sitka Gold CEO Cor Coe.

Exploration at RC Gold has now turned toward testing deeper targets along the Blackjack Mineralized Corridor, where recent results suggest that mineralization strengthens with depth.

"Step out drilling south of the Blackjack deposit shows that mineralization continues along the newly identified Blackjack Mineralized Corridor which has been traced for several kilometers to the south through the Pukelman West and Rhosgobel intrusions," added Coe. "Results from recent drilling also demonstrate that gold mineralization appears to strengthen at depth, suggesting a fully preserved intrusion related gold system is present."

Having completed over 5,000 meters of its planned 15,000-meter program, Sitka remains focused on expanding the Blackjack and Eiger deposits while also testing high-priority targets across its RC Gold property.

The recent mobilization of a second drill rig has allowed the company to accelerate exploration efforts, with assays pending for several key holes drilled along the Blackjack Mineralized Corridor and the Rhosgobel Intrusion.

"With two drill rigs now turning we are looking forward to additional expansion drilling at our Blackjack deposit while we drill additional targets at RC Gold including drilling at Rhosgobel which is currently underway," the Sitka CEO said.
