Yukon Metals off to a good start at Birch

Confirms copper and gold mineralization over a 1,400-meter anomaly on property acquired from the Berdahl family.

Yukon Metals Corp. Sept. 3 announced promising results from its initial exploration of the Birch gold-copper project in Yukon, identifying a large copper and gold mineralized system that spans over 1,400 meters and shows potential for economic grades.

"We are excited about these first pass results that have clearly identified a copper and gold mineralized system that has significant scale as demonstrated by the soil anomaly being over 1,400 meters long," said Yukon Metals President and CEO Rory Quinn. "The exceptionally high gold grades of up to 14.1 grams per metric ton from the surface rock chip program taken in the same area also point to the potential of the system to host economic grades."

In June, Yukon Metals solidified its position by acquiring an approximately 18,000-hectare (44,480 acres) portfolio of mineral exploration properties identified and assembled by the Berdahl family over three decades of prospecting.

The 16 properties picked up by Yukon Metals – AZ, Barite Mountain, Birch, Carter Gulch, Clea, Eva, Expo, Faro North, Fox, Gem, Nut, Pete, Risby, Star River, Talbot, and Venus – host a suite of precious metals and critical minerals, including antimony, arsenic, barite, bismuth, copper, gold, molybdenum, silver, tin, tungsten, and zinc.

Following the acquisition, Yukon Metals wasted no time in initiating exploration activities across its newly acquired properties, quickly commencing reconnaissance fieldwork at the Star River silver-zinc project, where initial exploration identified new mineralized outcroppings and previously unmapped areas of interest.

The company's first pass exploration on this project about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Ross River, Yukon, included geophysics, mapping, and surface sampling to confirm and expand upon historical high-grade silver targets, setting the stage for focused follow-up exploration to further delineate the mineralized zones.

"We are hugely encouraged by the extensive surface exposure of mineralization found at Star River as well as new areas of interest in the southern part of the property that have seen little to no previous exploration," Quinn said in July.

Now, Yukon Metals has completed its initial investigation of Birch, a project about 65 kilometers (40 miles) northeast of Burwash Landing in western Yukon where surface rock chip and soil sampling have revealed significant gold and copper mineralization.

A systematic soil sampling and prospecting program carried out in early August focused on a 1,400-meter-long anomaly identified in the northern part of the property. A total of 530 samples were collected on a 50- by 100-meter grid, with 341 of those samples analyzed to date.

Soil sampling assays returned encouraging results, including up to 0.99 grams per metric ton gold and 2,310 parts per million copper soil samples. Additionally, a rock-chip sample from this zone yielded 14.1 g/t gold and 4,260 ppm copper, pointing to the potential for a significant mineralized system.

"The metal association and the geology of the prospect area all point to the prospectivity for a gold-rich copper porphyry system that is largely preserved," added Quinn. "The project area also has relatively benign topography and is located 65 kilometers from the Alaska highway."

Yukon Metals plans to build on these promising initial results by conducting further geophysical surveys, including electrical resistivity tomography and induced polarization, to better delineate the bedrock structure beneath the anomalous zone at Birch.

These methods will help to refine drill targets and provide a clearer picture of the underlying mineralization.

The company is now gearing up for more extensive exploration across its other projects, with a focus on the AZ and Expo claims. Both properties have shown potential for significant copper and gold mineralization, and Yukon Metals is planning a series of follow-up exploration programs, including detailed geological mapping, geochemical surveys, and drilling, to further evaluate these prospects.

By continuing to advance its diverse portfolio, Yukon Metals aims to unlock the full potential of its assets and position itself as a leading exploration company in the Yukon.
