Deepest, most gold-rich hole ever for Sitka

North of 60 Mining News - September 13, 2024

Latest hole reveals multiple instances of visible gold over 600 meters; still open at depth.

Sitka Gold Corp. Sept. 11 reported yet another intercept from the 2024 exploration season that contains multiple instances of visible gold (VG), this time from surface to 680 meters in the deepest hole ever drilled at its RC Gold project in the Yukon, further building on the continuous high-grade mineralization observed throughout this year's exploration program.

In August, Sitka reported a 290.5-meter interval averaging 1.1 grams per metric ton gold, its best intercept to date. Visible gold was observed in multiple occurrences between 76 and 526 meters prior to assaying, and the results validated the company's expectations.

Now, with the latest hole encountering VG over a span of more than 600 meters, Sitka's exploration efforts appear to be expanding beyond previous limits.

"Drilling continues to encounter robust mineralization at our Blackjack Zone as we track this gold system to the south of the Blackjack gold deposit, along the Blackjack Mineralized Corridor, and to depth," said Sitka Gold CEO Cor Coe. "Hole 68, which is the first hole drilled to test the continuity of gold mineralization to depth at Blackjack, has returned some very impressive visuals."

Hole DDRCCC-24-068, which was drilled to a depth of 708.7 meters, returned over 40 instances of VG from surface to 680 meters, making it the deepest and most visually gold-rich hole drilled at RC Gold to date.

Extending the mineralized zone by 200 meters, the hole ended in gold-bearing rock, with mineralization still open at depth, indicating further potential below.

"This is the deepest hole we have ever drilled into this system, adding 200 vertical meters of gold mineralization to the limits of previous drilling, and it has encountered the most abundant visible gold observed in any drill holes to date, with numerous instances of gold seen from near surface to 680 meters," said Coe.

This deeper exploration, guided by Sitka's geological modeling, aligns with previous results from the Blackjack Zone, which have consistently demonstrated the continuity of gold mineralization along the Blackjack Mineralized Corridor.

"Our geological modelling indicates that intersecting structural corridors are forming a conduit for gold mineralization at Blackjack that is part of a larger mineralized system within the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex," the Sitka CEO continued.

To date, Sitka has completed a substantial portion of its 15,000-meter drill campaign at RC Gold, with several key intercepts demonstrating the growing potential of the Blackjack Zone. Given the continuous success, including the significant VG in hole 68, the remaining drilling is expected to further define the extent of mineralization.

"While we eagerly await the assay results to give us the full picture, the strength of the system as indicated by the abundant visible gold at depth in Hole 68 suggests we are getting closer to the source of this impressive mineralized system that remains open in all directions," finished Coe.

Drills are testing the projection of higher-grade gold mineralization along the newly identified Blackjack Mineralized Corridor, which follows the Blackjack Fault and extends over 10 kilometers (six miles) through the Saddle, Pukelman West, and Rhosgobel Intrusive Stocks.

This higher-grade mineralization is modeled along intersections of structural corridors that form conduits for gold, and the presence of multiple gold-bearing intrusions and intersecting structural corridors at RC Gold suggests that a large, connected system could be present across the expansive Clear Creek Intrusive Complex.

To date, Sitka Gold has drilled six holes as part of its 2024 exploration program at RC Gold, with visible gold observed in multiple instances in nearly every hole. Assays have been received for some earlier holes, while results for others, including the highly anticipated assays from hole DDRCCC-24-068, remain pending.

With drilling still underway and numerous assays yet to be returned, the company continues to build momentum in its pursuit of expanding the Blackjack deposit and uncovering the full potential of the RC Gold project.
