Yukon Metals grabs 10,000 g/t silver sample

Early exploration discovers strong silver and gold mineralization across multiple zones at Star River.

Yukon Metals Corp. Sept. 10 announced the discovery of high-grade silver and gold mineralization from its ongoing fieldwork at the Star River project in southern Yukon, with assays revealing silver grades exceeding 10,000 grams per metric ton and gold assays as high as 6.9 g/t.

Following on the heels of positive results from its Birch project, where Yukon Metals uncovered a 1,400-meter-long copper and gold mineralized system, the company has now received the initial results of its ongoing exploration program at Star River.

Back in July, Yukon Metals initiated its first reconnaissance fieldwork at Star River, a 715-hectare (1,766 acres) project located approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Ross River.

Aiming to follow up on historical high-grade silver targets and explore previously unmapped areas of interest, early work included geological mapping, surface sampling, and geophysical surveys to better understand the property's mineralization potential.

Samples collected from Yukon Metals' Star River claim block returned grades as high as 10,000 g/t silver.

Now, with the first batch of assay results in hand, Yukon Metals is beginning to confirm the potential of several key areas within Star River.

The initial assays, generated from 164 grab and rock chip samples collected during the 2024 field season, were retrieved from various targeted showings, including historic sites such as Lap 10, F2, F3, and Key 35 – areas first explored in the 1950s and '60s for their known polymetallic mineralization – as well as newly discovered mineralized float trains (loose mineralized rocks).

At Lap 10, continuous chip samples taken across a 10-meter exposed outcrop revealed high silver values. One sample returned 1,165 g/t silver and 1.03 g/t gold.

Similarly, grab samples from newly identified mineralized float trains in this part of the claim block returned impressive assays, including one sample exceeding 10,000 g/t silver and 0.72 g/t gold, and another at 4,210 g/t silver and 0.26 g/t gold. Additionally, a sample collected a little to the northeast yielded 1,290 g/t silver and 0.06 g/t gold.

"We are thrilled with the spectacular assay results received from this initial batch of samples, including one sample of over 10,000 g/t silver and another at over 4,200 g/t silver," said Yukon Metals President and CEO Rory Quinn. "The team have been hard at work sampling and mapping various areas of the property and have found compelling evidence of mineralization across multiple areas, in both outcrop and float."

Overall,15 of the 41 assays returned over 100 g/t silver, with three exceeding 1,500 g/t silver, further highlighting the strong untapped mineralization across Star River.

With a time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) survey completed and a gravity geophysics survey underway, Yukon Metals continues to refine its understanding of the Star River property and plans additional follow-up work to trace the source of newly identified mineralized float samples, particularly those found downslope from steep outcrops, as it works toward building a comprehensive exploration strategy for the project.

"The time-domain electromagnetic survey was completed in August and the gravity survey is underway, the results of which will provide significant data relative to the potential continuity between these multiple showings," finished Quinn.
