Bonanza gold and silver for Yukon Metals

North of 60 Mining News - October 4, 2024

Recent sampling reveals impressive high-grade gold and more impressive silver values, signaling significant mineralization potential at Star River.

Yukon Metals Corp. Oct. 1 announced that samples with up to 85 grams per metric ton gold and 1,616 g/t silver were collected from multiple areas at its Star River Project in Yukon, Canada.

In June, Yukon Metals solidified its position by acquiring an approximately 18,000-hectare (44,480 acres) portfolio of mineral exploration properties identified and assembled by the Berdahl family over three decades of prospecting.

The 16 properties picked up by Yukon Metals – AZ, Barite Mountain, Birch, Carter Gulch, Clea, Eva, Expo, Faro North, Fox, Gem, Nut, Pete, Risby, Star River, Talbot, and Venus – host a suite of precious metals and critical minerals, including antimony, arsenic, barite, bismuth, copper, gold, molybdenum, silver, tin, tungsten, and zinc.

Following the acquisition, Yukon Metals wasted no time in initiating exploration activities across its newly acquired properties, quickly commencing reconnaissance fieldwork at the Star River silver-zinc project, where initial exploration identified new mineralized outcroppings and previously unmapped areas of interest.

The company's first pass exploration on this project about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Ross River, Yukon, included geophysics, mapping, and surface sampling to confirm and expand upon historical high-grade silver targets, setting the stage for focused follow-up exploration to further delineate the mineralized zones.

Aiming to follow up on historical high-grade silver targets and explore previously unmapped areas of interest, early work included geological mapping, surface sampling, and geophysical surveys to better understand the property's mineralization potential.

The first batch of assays included an incredible sampling of over 10,000 g/t silver and multiple samples exceeding 1,600 g/t silver, confirming the potential of several key areas within Star River. The initial assays, generated from 164 grab and rock chip samples collected, were retrieved from various targeted showings, including historic sites such as Lap 10, F2, F3, and Key 35 – areas first explored in the 1950s and 1960s for their known polymetallic mineralization, as well as newly discovered mineralized float trains (loose mineralized rocks).

Building on these encouraging initial results, Yukon Metals' latest assays returned bonanza-grade gold up to 85.05 g/t from the F2 showing, alongside significant silver values, including 1,935 g/t and 1,940 g/t silver at F2, and 1,790 g/t silver at the nearby F3 showing.

Additionally, the company reported assays of 9.35 g/t gold from the Saddle showing and 9.74 g/t gold from the FLT showing, further underscoring the widespread high-grade mineralization across multiple zones at Star River.

"Yukon Metals has now sampled bonanza grade silver and bonanza grade gold on the same property, at Star River! Not only have we sampled 319 ounces per ton silver (approximately four oz per ton gold equivalent), we have now sampled three oz per ton gold!" said Yukon Metals President and CEO Rory Quinn. "High grade silver and gold have been sampled from multiple areas across this 715-hectare property, in most cases, areas that are many hundreds of meters apart. These ongoing results are a culmination of the fantastic work done by our technical team this field season, and there is more to come!"

The company also completed the field portion of its exploration program, which included mapping, prospecting, and ground geophysics, such as time-domain electromagnetic and gravity surveys. Ongoing data processing and analysis are expected to guide future exploration, with further results pending for additional samples collected during the program.

With these results, Yukon Metals continues to unlock the vast potential of its vast portfolio, setting the stage for what could be a robust and economically significant exploration story, not unlike Snowline Gold's success.
