Widespread gold mineralization has been identified in soil and rock samples collected across the Thorn property.
Brixton Metals Corp. Oct. 16 reported that drills have tapped high-grade gold at the Trapper target on its Thorn project in Northern British Columbia.
Lying in B.C.'s northwestern corner, about 55 miles (90 kilometers) northwest of Juneau, Alaska, the 2,945-square-kilometer (1,137 square miles) Thorn project covers 16 large-scale copper- and gold-enriched prospects.
While much of the 2024 drill program at Thorn is focused on the porphyry copper-gold mineralization at Camp Creek and other similar porphyry copper-gold targets identified across the district-scale property, the program also included 2,746 meters of drilling in 11 holes to expand upon the epithermal gold mineralization at Trapper.
Lying about 10 kilometers (six miles) south of Camp Creek, Trapper has been the target of drilling since 2021. Highlights from the 2021 to 2023 programs at Trapper include:
• 139 meters averaging 2.14 grams per metric ton in hole THN21-186.
• 304.5 meters averaging 1.19 g/t gold in hole THN22-237.
• 398.3 meters averaging 0.95 g/t gold in hole THN22-243.
• 253 meters averaging 1.4 g/t gold in hole THN22-244.
• 98 meters averaging 0.62 g/t gold in hole THN23-270.
• 179.5 meters averaging 0.51 g/t gold in hole THN23-288.
This year's program at Trapper includes infill and step-out drilling to test the extent and continuity of mineralization along the Lawless Fault zone that runs across the target.
Last week, Brixton reported the first batch of assay results from the 2024 drilling at Trapper. Highlights from these initial three holes include:
• 254 meters averaging 0.48 g/t gold from a depth of six meters in hole THN24-300, including six meters averaging 4.19 g/t gold and 22.1 g/t silver from 201 meters.
• 216.8 meters averaging 0.25 g/t gold from a depth of 154 meters in hole THN24-303, including 11 meters averaging 2.34 g/t gold and 1.52 g/t silver from 189 meters.
Hole THN24-300 was an infill hole drilled to test gold grade continuity between a series of previously released holes near holes THN22-237 and THN22-244.
Collared about 450 meters northwest of THN24-300, hole THN 24-303 targeted deeper gold mineralization identified during 2023 drilling.
"The results from hole THN24-303 present new opportunities for step-out drilling north of the main target area and we look forward to expanding on these encouraging findings," said Brixton Metals Vice President of Exploration Christina Anstey.
The latest assays from Trapper are from a hole that cut two meters of bonanza-grade gold within broad bulk tonnage mineralization similar to previously reported intercepts.
Drilled about 250 meters southeast of THN24-300, hole THN 24-304 is a step-out hole to test the continuity of gold mineralization in that direction. This hole cut 227.5 meters averaging 0.5 g/t gold and 3.2 g/t silver, including two meters averaging 44.43 g/t gold and 79.3 g/t silver from 204.5 meters.
"It's great to see these high-grade gold intercepts within the broad domain of gold mineralization at the Trapper Gold Target," said Anstey. "The gold mineralization horizon identified with drilling correlates well with the magnetic vertical gradient response and this, in combination with the surface geochemical anomalies, provides many future drill targets to potentially expand the footprint at Trapper."
