Klondike Gold Corp. Oct. 29 reported that assay results from eleven holes drilled this year have extended the Stander Zone on the company's Klondike District gold project by 300 meters to the southeast – a 50% increase in strike length.
Located roughly 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of the famed gold rush mining town of Dawson City, Yukon, Klondike Gold's 727-square-kilometer (280 square miles) Klondike District sits in the heart of the historic Klondike goldfields, where more than 20 million ounces of placer gold was mined during the famed gold rush.
Klondike's land package includes the Eldorado property and Klondike Gold claims. Within the northern part of Eldorado are Lone Star and Stander, the company's most advanced deposits. Combined, Lone Star and Stander host 21.59 million metric tons of indicated resources averaging 0.68 g/t (468,901 oz) gold and 6.46 million tons of inferred resources averaging 0.54 g/t (111,959 oz) gold.
Getting underway in late April, this year's exploration program is building upon discoveries from 2023 that highlighted the presence of significant gold mineralization at Stander, and which laid the groundwork for defining the Eldorado Fault as a key structural corridor controlling gold emplacement.
Initially, Klondike Gold planned for 2,500 meters of diamond drilling, later expanding to over 5,000 meters based on encouraging early results, with a focused effort to further explore the mineral potential along the newly defined Eldorado Fault and its surrounding areas.
The first phase of drilling at Stander comprised 19 holes totaling 2,750 meters, targeting down-dip and along-strike extensions of the current resource boundary. Early results from the first eight holes revealed several high-grade intercepts; highlights include:
• Two meters averaging 0.83 g/t gold from a depth of 19.5 meters, and 3.5 meters averaging 1.06 g/t gold from 45.5 meters in hole EC24-521.
• 1.6 meters averaging 3.66 g/t gold from 17.4 meters, and eight meters averaging 0.42 g/t gold from 63 meters in EC24-522.
• One meter averaging 39.52 g/t gold from 102.5 meters in EC24-523.
• 6.7 meters averaging 1.46 g/t gold from 7.5 meters in EC24-524.
Following the promising visual results from the first phase, Klondike's continued drilling efforts at Stander focused on further extending the southeastern strike.
The latest round of assays revealed significant new intercepts that expand Stander by 300 meters, representing a 50% increase in strike length compared to previous resource boundaries.
Highlights from this next batch of assays from drilling at Stander include:
• Four meters averaging 21.50 g/t gold from a depth of 96.5 meters, including one meter averaging 76.07 g/t from 99.5 meters in hole EC24-534.
• Nine meters averaging 4.84 g/t gold from 118 meters, including 0.5 meters averaging 35.44 g/t from 124 meters in EC24-541.
• 2.5 meters averaging 6.51 g/t gold from 80.5 meters, including one meter averaging 11.79 g/t from 82 meters in EC24-539.
• Five meters averaging 1.48 g/t gold from 49 meters, including 0.5 meters averaging 9.67 g/t from 50 meters in EC24-533.
• One meter averaging 5.63 g/t gold from 42.5 meters, followed by three meters averaging 1.87 g/t from 53 meters in EC24-540.
"These results reveal a 300-meter strike extension to the stacked high grade gold quartz vein zones that is the economic target within the Stander Zone," said Klondike Gold President and CEO Peter Tallman. "This drilling adding 50% to the southeastern strike length of Stander Zone mineralization with these high-grade intervals is an excellent result and a significant predictive success by the exploration team."
Of the 36 holes drilled in the 2024 program at Stander Zone, assays remain pending for 18 holes –seven from the first phase and 11 from the second.
