Boundary drilling expands Fireweed zinc

North of 60 Mining News - December 13, 2024

Latest results reveal further potential for resource expansion at Macpass.

Fireweed Metals Corp. Dec. 12 announced results from 15 drill holes at Boundary Zone and nine exploration holes at its Macpass Project in Yukon, Canada, with highlights including high-grade zinc, lead, and silver mineralization.

Concluding earlier this fall, the 2024 drill program extended beyond the initial 14,000-meter plan, completing more than 17,000 meters across 49 holes.

Designed to expand resources at Boundary, Tom, and Jason, the campaign also tested newly identified targets, with step-out drilling pushing mineralization up to 200 meters beyond existing resource limits along the Macpass prospective corridor.

Notable successes from the program included high-grade intercepts at Boundary Zone, where drilling confirmed extensions of stratiform and massive sulfide mineralization along strike and at depth. Previous highlights include:

92.15 meters averaging 8.61% zinc, 2.6% lead, and 42.7 grams per metric ton silver from a depth of 428 meters in hole NB24-001.

3.05 meters averaging 2.23% zinc, 6.16% lead, and 80.3 g/t silver from 764.7 meters in NB24-008.

54.58 meters (31 meters estimated true width) averaging 8.68% zinc, 3.68% lead, and 87.4 g/t silver from a depth of 311.5 meters in NB24-014.

19.73 meters (15 meters true width) averaging 9.4% zinc, 1.07% lead, and 49.7 g/t silver from a depth of 383.5 meters in NB24-024.

"These intercepts on the extreme eastern margin of Boundary Zone continue to push the extents of this already exceptional deposit with successful intersections of zinc mineralization in every completed hole, and stepping out up to 200 metres along strike from the currently defined resource," said Fireweed Metals President and CEO Peter Hemstead. "On the west side of Boundary Zone, the successful intersection of mineralization in rocks interpreted to be the same age as those of the Howard's Pass project to the south indicates that there is still significant untapped exploration potential in this area of the property."

These results, particularly the high-grade step-outs on the eastern and western margins of Boundary Zone, underscore the expansion potential noted by Hemstead. The consistent intersections of zinc, lead, and silver mineralization beyond the defined resource boundaries demonstrate the deposit's capacity for growth.

This continuity in mineralization, both along strike and in previously underexplored zones, sets the stage for the latest assays, which reveal even more promising intercepts; highlights include:

63.54 meters averaging 6.08% zinc, 0.89% lead, and 10.7 g/t silver from 29.81 meters in NB24-015, including 2.75 meters averaging 12.71% zinc, 0.31% lead, and 24.8 g/t silver, and 5.13 meters averaging 30.63% zinc, 7.83% lead, and 40.3 g/t silver (3.9 meters true width).

65.92 meters averaging 5.09% zinc, 0.42% lead, and 15.3 g/t silver from 21.98 meters in NB24-013, including 38.88 meters averaging 6.58% zinc, 0.49% lead, and 18.9 g/t silver, 6.18 meters averaging 18.91% zinc, 0.07% lead, and 37.3 g/t silver, and 2.53 meters averaging 27.03% zinc, 4.57% lead, and 34.7 g/t silver (1.9 meters true width).

These intercepts expand Boundary Zone's resource potential, with mineralization extending along strike and at depth, while the presence of germanium and gallium within sphalerite adds potential critical mineral byproducts to the project.

"The final holes for the 2024 campaign have ended another successful season at Macpass providing several opportunities for further exploration in 2025 and beyond," finished Hemstead.

Looking ahead, Fireweed plans further exploration at Boundary Zone and other targets, with an updated drill hole database expected in early 2025 to guide future efforts.
