Brixton Metals Corp. Dec. 9 reported the discovery of a high-grade gold zone within the large and copper-dominant Camp Creek porphyry on its Thorn project in Northern British Columbia.
Located about 55 miles (90 kilometers) northwest of Juneau, Alaska, Thorn is a 2,945-square-kilometer (1,137 square miles) property that is best known for the up to one-mile-long intercepts of porphyry copper-gold-silver-molybdenum mineralization drilled at Camp Creek.
Highlights from drilling at Camp Creek over the previous three seasons include:
• 976.5 meters averaging 0.22% copper, 0.07 grams per metric ton gold, 2.06 g/t silver, and 154.4 parts per million molybdenum in hole THN21-183.
• 821.3 meters averaging 0.24% copper, 0.1 g/t gold, 2.44 g/t silver, and 174.3 ppm molybdenum in hole THN21-184.
• 967.7 meters averaging 0.25% copper, 0.09 g/t gold, 2.39 g/t silver, and 186 ppm molybdenum in hole THN22-201.
• 1,562.4 meters averaging 0.19% copper, 0.05 g/t gold, 2.81 g/t silver, and 189 ppm molybdenum in hole THN23-261.
Two holes drilled at Camp Creek in 2024 cut similar long sections of porphyry mineralization:
• 960.4 meters averaging 0.21% copper, 0.06 g/t gold, 2.71 g/t silver, and 279 ppm molybdenum depth of 314.5 meters in hole THN24-290
• 1,126 meters averaging 0.18% copper, 0.05 g/t gold, 1.82 g/t silver, and 167 ppm molybdenum from a depth of 398 meters in hole THN24-291.
THN24-291 hole encountered a gold-dominant zone above the porphyry mineralization. This 61.5-meter zone averaged 0.89 g/t gold, 10.5 g/t silver, and 0.13% copper from a depth of 116.5 meters.
Hole THN24-307, which was drilled about 225 meters northwest of THN24-291, encountered a similar gold-dominant zone above the porphyry mineralization. Starting from a depth of 83.5 meters, this hole cut 114.5 meters averaging 0.53 g/t gold and 20.1 g/t silver, including eight meters averaging 4.52 g/t gold, 148.6 g/t silver, and 0.54% copper.
Below the gold-dominant zone, THN24-307 cut 647.8 meters averaging 0.26% copper, 0.11 g/t gold, 2.7 g/t silver, and 274 ppm molybdenum from a depth of 749.5 meters.
Hole THN24.294, which was drilled about 475 meters southwest of THN24-307 and outside of the area of porphyry copper mineralization outlined so far at Camp Creek, cut 124 meters averaging 0.29% copper, 0.07 g/t gold, 2.6 g/t silver and 134 ppm molybdenum from a depth of 1,104 meters.
"We are excited to announce that the latest drill results have significantly expanded the footprint of the Camp Creek Copper Porphyry as well as identifying new areas of near surface high-sulfidation gold-silver-copper mineralization, further confirming the scale copper-gold potential and continuity of the Camp Creek system," said Brixton Metals Vice President of Exploration Christina Anstey.
Brixton says future exploration will continue to define high-grade mineralization at Camp Creek, as well as test new porphyry targets across the district-scale Thorn property.
Assays are pending from this year's drilling at Cirque and Trifecta, porphyry copper-gold exploration targets about 3,000 meters northeast and 1,500 meters southwest of Camp Creek, respectively.
